Black Friday: Global Shopping Event
Black Friday hails from the USA and dates back to the early 1950s. It takes place on the day following Thanksgiving, the fourth Friday of November (the 23rd in 2018). Since 2005, it's been the busiest day in the US shopping calendar, and in recent times it's become very popular with shoppers in countries like the UK too. As for the name Black Friday, there have been various explanations as to its origins. Some say it refers to the disruption caused by over-eager shoppers, while others suggest it's a nod to it being the day when stores can rely on making a profit – i.e., going into the black.
Black Friday at BT Mobile
BT Mobile has a track record of offering some impressive deals on Black Friday. Previous sales have included half price on selected phones, discounts on 3GB, 6GB, and 15GB mobile phone plans, and some eye-catching SIM only deals, with offers on 500MB, 4GB, 8GB and 20GB SIM cards. That's in addition to BT's other sales on home phones, laptops, TV and broadband – for example, packages with free BT Sport and £125 reward cards.
Future Black Friday sales from BT Mobile look set to be just as tempting. Shoppers can anticipate deals on smartphones from the likes of Samsung, Google and Apple, as well as more family plan and SIM only discounts. More generally, BT can be expected to reduce prices on a wide range of smart gadgets for the home and on the go. This includes tablets, entertainment systems and devices such as activity trackers.
