Hi, wondering if anybody can shed a little light on this for me before I begin to panic. I sold an xbox on ebay and shipped it with parcel force 48. Dropped it at the post office on Monday. Seems it didn't get picked up until Tuesday and it was delivered today (Thursday) the tracking states it was delivered with a neighbour at just a few mins before 9am. The buyer states no card was left by parcel force and he's been to his neighbours and they haven't signed for anything. So hes saying he's left with no Xbox. I gave him the tracking for him to check for himself. The tracking doesn't show which neighbour or a signature. Will parcelforce be able to tell me which neighbour it's gone to? And show me a signature? They are closed until tomorrow so cannot check just now. I can't help but feel things are a little fishy myself but I'm not going to accuse any wrong doing obviously. I suggested that it could be a neighbour who works nights or doesnt have children due to the time it was signed for. Surely anybody with children would still be out doing the school run at that time of the morning.
What should my next step be? And where does this leave me with facing some nasty ebay action and being left out of pocket? Will parcelforce refund this? I know that they have a location tagging system which will show me where they were at the time of delivery.. Does that mean it's then the buyers responsibility to sort this with his neighbour or is he still going to win a dispute with eBay when he no doubt opens one against me?
I can't see where it's fair for me to lose out on this as I sent the parcel.. Made sure it needed a signature. Made sure it was covered and paid for upto it's value incase of delivery damage. Anybody who could advise me on this would be a great help

sorted byEbay will immediately ask you for a tracking number. Supply it and then take it from there.
In short it sounds like neither you nor the buyer have done anything wrong and Parcelforce are totally to blame, but I'd let ebay / paypal resolve this. (Unless of course he is trying to scam you - hence why he needs to open the case with ebay).

I'm really mad about it. I offered the buyer the option to collect from his local post office first too and he declined. He will be wishing as much as me that he took that option now. I always thought couriers could only deliver to a neighbour If requested so. And I definitely didn't ask for it to go to a neighbour of the buyer
Thanks Andy. I'll be sure to be on their line at 8am sharpish. Will ebay not just instantly side with the buyer on it as he doesn't have his parcel? A d who will they get the money from if they do decide neither of us are at fault? I've never been in this situation before.
I do have a slight worry that he's trying to scam me. I think he may have seen he's bought from and communicating with a female and just taking a chance because the courier didn't post a slip through his door to tell him its gone to a neighbour. Or maybe that's me being too worried and he's worrying just as much as I am.
I've sent loads of consoles before without the protection of ebay. I've sold on this site for years and never a issue like this. I worry that people who buy from ebay KNOW they are likely to be sided with from the ebay team and take the chance.
Parcelforce 48, tracking numbers, EVEN (!!!) recorded delivery are no guarantee against this type of fraud, if the buyer maintains they didn't receive the item. They are insured by paypal, and they know it.
The only way is to send items 'Special delivery'. That way you are insured up to £1000 also, not just the buyer.
You have been scammed.Take all the money out of the account linked to your paypal account, and cancel any direct debits to paypal. Phone your bank and tell them to block any direct debits from paypal. You will be charged for the cost of the xbox... meanwhile buyer gets to keep xbox, and paypal refund him his money also.
Get on the phone to your bank pronto!

This is why I wanted to avoid ebay. I can't cancel my direct debts with PayPal as I pay for my S8 monthly through PayPal credit. I will fight it to the death if I'm honest. I think me telling the guy that I'm aware that location scanning etc is a thing with couriers has spooked him a bit as he's not messaged me back since... And he was messaging me quite aggressively before that. Hopefully he's in experienced in this whole thing and realises he's doing wrong. Ebay really need to find a better way to deal with this. I've read too many horror stories
Turned out the lazy delivery toerag had lobbed the parcel over a wall into the back garden.
Only found it by accident the next day.

With no doubt the courier is to blame even if the buyer is trying to pull a fast one. I used to be one and once I left a parcel in a doorstep as the instructions said on it said I could. A few days later they reported they hadn't received it and it turns out it was a laptop to which I ended up having to pay £400 out my wages to cover it. They cancelled there order and got there money back and ended up with a free laptop.
About a week later they messaged me to say they hadn't received it. I mentioned that it was tracked and marked that they had signed for it at the depot that will most likely have cctv and I will look to contact the police. They suddenly changed their story and claimed that actually they had bought two and it was the other one that hadn't arrived.
He was clearly trying to scam me but I scared him with the threat of going to the police.
Christ. People are horrible. Ebay really should change their policies as how easy they make it is just magnetising all the bad eggs to do bad things to genuine sellers without having to break a sweat. It's about time all posage services caught up with Dpd. If someone expecting a parcel can see how far away the driver is and can either make sure they are home for that ten minute slot of him being close to your house and then delivering and going or make sure somebody else it. The option to deliver to a neighbour can be scrapped completely.
I'm hoping that's what's happened here with this guy. I haven't had a message since I told him I'll call PF tomorrow and check the location of the driver and where he obtained a signature. I'm really hoping it's scared him off.
I thought that also. As I left no note for him to leave it with a neighbour and wouldn't of done even if the buyer had asked me too. I'd of just told him it was too risky to me to do that.
You could finance your S8 though another card or account.
It may not come to this, but it reeks of fraud, and I'm just making you aware of what is likely going to happen, and what you can do to protect yourself.
The problem is that Ebay can't really change their policies, because that's the new normal. The buyer is always right - because Amazon would always refund or send another, so if Ebay didn't follow suit then their platform would suffer. Given how you can order anything from anywhere now, and anyone can buy a cheap phone from China etc., there's less and less of a cost benefit to buying from an ordinary person as opposed to a company. End result is that everyone has to be as flexible as Amazon (or much cheaper) because that's what people expect now when shopping online.
Can't remember who it was with now, but I do remember that the contents consisted of two computer hard drives which miraculously suffered no damage.
I know this doesn't help with your money situation, but you could threaten to use it.

Definatley not! I had a laptop delivered to my trash bin last year.. I got no note and the tracking said delivered to my outhouse.. which I don't have.. finally found it next day when I went to put the bin out and I thought I'll just check it and there it was sat on top of all my household rubbish! It was all damp on the laptop when I opened it but Hermes were no use and wouldn't do anything, said it was a safe place! Laptop stopped working within 6 months. Sure the damp didn't help it. Absolute idiots..
Collect for cash only, saves messing about with posting and "missing" items.
Tell them you have asked Microsoft to track the ip as you have given them the consoles serial number, see if he bottles it.

May also be completely innocent - I've had several experiences of things being scanned as "delivered" when the delivery person begins his route, then they don't make it to me until the next day or day after. Either way, glad it all worked out.
