Good price. Really want this but I’ve splashed on the dji drone in the maplin deal so the Mrs would kill me if I get this too

I get that the controller is pricey (I certainly don't think it is cheap) - but the RRP is only £10 more than the xbox one and the PS4's controllers. And the battery life thrashes both while offering HD rumble to boot. Nintendo clearly felt that worth at least £10 more.

    Fairer comparison:
the RRP for the Xbox One wireless controller is £49.99
the RRP for the Dualshock 4 is £49.99
the RRP for the Switch Pro Controller is £59.99 (edited)

    I love this controller.
Gotta say though, splashing out over fifty quid for it still hurts. I would only consider it a deal if I found it for £30-£40.

You can game whenever you like, wherever you like. Big screen? No problem. There are way more offerings than just Mario or Zelda... I suggest Splatoon 2 and Arms. Unique games.

That's what it's been for me: convenience. I'll happily trade power for it (up to a point!).

That and the games I've played on it have been pretty bloody great this year. Two have been exceptional.

The pad is expensive, but if you want one this is a good price. Personally I love playing with split joycons so I haven't needed to get one.

Nintendo have to be commended for getting away with it....Mario and Zelda are such premium brands but beyond portability, I cant see why anyone would pick it over a Pro or even Xbox One X. Yes, after a few games, the Xbox One X is looking reasonably priced!I'm trying to talk my son out of getting one as he's not a Zelda and to a lesser extent Mario fan.

If he's not going to be playing Mario Odyssey, Kart 8, Zelda BotW or Splatoon 2. Then I'd agree with you entirely.

I have all 3 consoles and at present the Switch is my go to device.

Xbox X and Pro are the same to me. No difference between them, but the Switch, I really do love it. Throw it in the dock and play, move to the sofa or bedroom, keep playing. I take it to work, I take it in the car, I take it to the In-Laws . (edited)

Its really good fun and very happy I got it. My 5 and 6 yo boys think it’s a spaceship which makes them gawp every time. And because it’s so small when I’ve taken it the park (admittedly only once), people were curious and came over for a look.

While it does have the battery life and HD rumble as plus points it doesn't have triggers, it doesn't have a headphone jack, the D-pad isn't pivoted and is prone to unintended inputs. Personally it feels a little lower quality too.

I have this controller and it is pretty basic for the price they're asking for it

Especially build quality it feels and looks cheap too

I felt the build quality was solid and good quality but guess we have differing opinions on that. Reviews are pretty consistent about build quality being good though I do know internet opinion kinda sways between it being tacky and feeling high quality. Feature-wise, it's pretty competitive though. It also does bluetooth and works on the PC without needing a dongle, with the dualshock doesn't. And battery life, there's no contest More than triple that of the Dualshock 4. And you don't need AAs like the Xbox One's controllers either.

That said, I kinda miss the headphone jack and it doesn't have the light bar that the dualshock has. Doesn't have button mapping like the Xbox One's either.

Agree - I kinda feel this is like the same situation with the Wii U Pro Controller - low supply, so prices are kept high. That's just a guess though, based on the fact that you don't need the Pro Controller for the Switch while you do need controllers for the other consoles.
