    Sort your house out then.

Good idea. £10 though, I think I'll pass.

"Alexa what would you like for Christmas?"

"Thats very sweet but I have everything I want"

"Alexa would you like a zero mount?"

"I don't have an opinion on that"

The other solution is to use the usb supply if you have one built into your wall socket and use 3M tape to stick the Echo above it. If you havent already upgraded your wall sockets ,they are cheaper than this anyway.

Interesting idea, not sure if the reality will be as good though

So how many are you buying then?

None, If I ever want to set the house on fire I'll buy a box of matches. That thing will probably take about a fortnight to burst into flames

I know you're just baiting mcek for his narrowmindedness but this thing doesn't have any electronics in it so that's unlikely

And why would you assume that this "thing" will probably burst into flames? Let me remind you that 1st gen Echo Dot consumes small amount of power therefore amount of heat it generates is also fairly small.

This is a good deal as the item is €12.99 on Amazon Germany where youd expect it to be cheaper as its made there.

It looks like it's only designed to use the Amazon 2nd gen's power supply.

Yep, this was designed to work with the first version of the Echo Dot gen 2 power supply with the flare at the base but the current gen 2s, like the one I got in Black Friday week, have have a different power supply that doesn't have that flare.

Well, a bit of that, but it'll make the power-supply run warmer. How much warmer, I've no idea.

Actually I did just have an idea. I bet the Echo Dot does have a temperature sensor somewhere, on the board or on a chip I couldn't say.
I wonder if anyone has found a way to get the device to report its temperature. That could be a useful thing (edited)

Easy, mount the Dot just under your Hive thermostat and say "Alexa, ask Hive the temperature of my house".

*Warning, the rest of your house may end up a little colder than you intended! (edited)

And let me remind you that 1st Gen never sold in the UK, so you've probably never been close enough to tell if it gets warm or not.

Plus, guessing Amazon had decent psu's built, not like the average Chinese fire cracker you get with stuff (edited)

Yes, I am sure it will set itself on fire even before you plug it in. Please, be realistic.

Got mine this morning.... it's mint, perfect for the job, however it appears the problem lies with the PSU, the newer dots come with a revised psu which is slightly bigger (black case/white bottom hence, won't fit!) I've got 2 dots, the older one had the small psu (all black) and it worked a treat...
