    £60 for a cardbox boxmugs

    Well, kit 1 @ £53.85 actually has

28 x Cardboard Sheet (includes an extra sheet for customisation)
    3 x Relflective Sheet
    3 x Sponge Sheet
    1 x String (orange) 1 x String (blue)
    1 x Eyelet Set (grey)
    1 x Eyelet Set (blue)
    2 x Rubber band ** (large) + Spares
    6 x Rubber band ** (small) + Spares

    and the software.

Don't forget that the real cost of something isn't just what you can see. I can imagine a shed load of work went into designing, researching and creating these.

Well rather than teaching kids how to hold a controller and sit on their asses staring at a big screen, this is teaching them how to build and create something from scratch and once they have it then becomes interactive. It's kind of like an interactive Lego but made out of cardboard. I think the idea is to inspire creativity and get the kids involved.

Thats nothing - with the prices of houses now - I've got enough from Amazon boxes to build a castle - once sent me a box of batteries bigger than the van that delivered it!

The prices of cartridges is sadly way too high and this gimmick will sell like hotcakes as its such a new and novel idea but longevity of game play, I'm certain will be extremely limited once the dust settles. Sales will hit the roof and be sold out - crime will sky rocket as people will be robbed for any bit of card and paper they will own.

Amazon will start charging for the boxes once they realise Nintendo-lites are hooked - this craze will sweep the globe and become the new craze to replace cryptocurrency - CARDBOARDING.

Trump will push forward on building his Mexico wall with Nintendo's cardboard and become the 9th wonder of the world -the wall of card.

Damn you Nintendo, damn you. (edited)

NINTENDO: Nintendo Labo is for kids and those that like kid stuff!
ADULT GAMER: Okay, but what if I don't want it?
NINTENDO: Totally fine. It's for kids.

ADULT GAMER: But how is it for me?

Thanks for sharing deal and look forward to playing with this with my 8 year old boy.

What are you talking about man?!? Have ye lost all yer senses?!?! Go and buy a real fishing kit off ebay for £25 and do the real thing! Buy an electronic piano or a real piano - go do the real thing! You could buy the real McCoys and stil have change compared to buying this crap - console & game and then an IKEA DIY setup and just as flimsy!

This is probably the best comment here. It's not always about the hardware guys. The research and man hours that go into this to make it work is insane. Also. Quick reminder. As with anything you don't have to buy it you know.

This will be great for hobos who can collect thrown away Labo and build a cardboard house, but only hobo kids as Nintendo fanboys have made that painstakingly clear.

Haters gonna hate....they are clearly too busy saving for their 10k resolution screens to play their boring games on to have any time to have actual fun.

Must really stick in the craw of the Sony/Microsoft fanboys to see nintendo getting away with such stuff instead of blindly trundling after their chosen console manufacturer down the tech treadmill.

My first piece of nintendo hardware was a toy (billion barrel) so this is a very smart move by a company that knows it's heritage and its target audience and Labo seems a brilliant means of tapping into both.

Exactly, this is what most people miss and I was probably one of the first to think £60 for cardboard?

The average new Switch game is £45/50, so all the R&D/manufacturing and distribution for the card comes in at £3.85 extra. Decent .

But you also have to consider the impact this has on general software titles. There is less time/attention given to new ideas and development of new software titles, while Nintendo are fannying about with cardboard. Best exampled with the lazy repeat deluxe crap, i.e. MK8 Deluxe (v.3) and DK Tropical Freeze Deluxe (v.2). (edited)

When i first saw the announcement i thought nintendo have finally lost their mind!

The more ive seen it though, the more i can see the potential. The joycons are surprisingly versatile- putting these party games aside, the number of inexpensive accessories you could probably make for regular games is enormous!

I get what they are trying but its concept stuff and reeks of barrel scraping. Plus add the Nintendo tax on top of what it should probably cost and that seals it for me. And lets be honest, most of these kits are never going to be opened by the millennials who are going to buy them.

Thank goodness you don't run a company trying to make money, looks like Nintendo are onto a big winner here wether you like it or not. I'm not actually convinced by the concept itself but it looks like it's gonna make massive profit... Which you know... What all companies try and do....

    Wish i'd bought one though....

To be fair I like the concept and the experimentation Nintendo are showing here. It seems too expensive (though the software may prove that wrong) but I have a feeling that they will manage to make it compelling enough to succeed and start something unique in video gaming. Kudos. Not long ago I remember a similar argument over the Switch itself on HUKD.

I do suspect the underlying games themselves will be a bit simple and focused on casual players with minimal replay value, but the joy and challenge will be in the construction and understanding how these things work. As a synth nerd, the piano alone means I'll be buying day one.

Hoping Nintendo can release a sandbox/mario-maker type capability for Labo in future and unleash the creativity of all it's fans. Then those Amazon boxes really will see some better use.

    Slim chance of getting in, but families in London may want to apply for free tickets to this for hands on trial - must have kids age 7-15 to be considered;
