This is the original version. Switch one was made after this one.

Both versions came out at the same time. They are exactly the same in terms of content and gameplay.

Apparently the Wii U version is also less glitchy overall compared to the Switch one.

Wii U ver has more stuttering. But it's never really bad.

Played through hundreds and hundreds of hours of this and very barely noticed any significant slowdown. Worth every penny of the RRP.

I have the Switch version and have also played the game on my cousins Wii U. Content and gameplay is exactly the same on both. The Switch version is a smoother experience with regard to framerate especially in busy places like villages. Switch is also outputting at a slightly higher resolution when docked 900p vs 720p. It's never bothered my cousin though and he's put nearly as much time into it as I have (about 150 hours).

Not to mention playing the game in 2160p aka 4K resolution plus other significant enhancements on PC using Cemu. By far the best way to experience Zelda BotW.

Agreed only difference is mobility on Switch infinite vs 6 feet on WiiU.

Yeah some areas really struggle to run smoothly but overall it’s fine to play. Only just finished the main story the other day. Lot more shrines to discover though yet!

I've played 240 hours on Switch and while it's really nice playing at 1440p/60fps on CEMU (I mean duh, it's great!) I much prefer the portability :P

Got really excited when I saw this for a minute. Then realised it was the Wii U version. I only have a switch. Bought it the other day before realising just how expensive all of the games are.

Did you notice if there were any Wii U versions?

There wasn't although the price listed for the Wii U version said £15

The FPS is what it is. The Wii U is last gen and was underpowered compared to the PS3 and XB360 so I’m not sure what people were expecting.

It’s something of a technical miracle that this game plays as well as it does at all on the Wii U.

I’ve done about 120hrs on the Wii U version and you only get noticeable slowdown on large explosions. Mainly that happens when you blow up Bokoblin camps and destroy Guardians.

The art style negates the frame drops in a lot of areas too.

It’s a remarkable game and one I couldn’t recommend highly enough. Terrific price.

Total crap - I've played this through on the Wii U and the frame-rate is totally fine with all game updates. Stop agreeing with the masses and put forward your own opinion.

Great price for an incredible game. I've had it on the Wii U, CEMU and the Switch.

In order of which is best the Wii U version comes close to the Switch (minus portability and a slight resolution drop). But if you are intending to get a Switch then its worth holding out, if not you wont be disappointed with this version.

CEMU looks good but is buggy as hell, regularly crashes and runs like a pig (I have a gtx 1080ti too). It's great to what it would look like in 4k but not an enjoyable experience at all bordering on unplayable, but that's piracy for you.

    Voted hot

This is a great price, but be aware that this version is inferior to the Switch version.
This suffers from lag and stuttering etc, when battling enemies or even running down a hill with to much grass (in my experience).
But for the price, and the hours of gameplay, myself 💯+ hours on the WiiU, but I'd still pick the switch version if I could choose again.
  37. thecresta's avatar
Switch has a higher frame rate if you're playing un-docked - as it runs at a lower resolution.
