So desperate for a GTA/Resident Evil/Metal Gear release on this! So true about the content on this machine being so limited in whats worth buying:

Fifa - online broken - cant play friends.
    WWE2K18 - 2 player feature cripples the machine/gameplay
    Mario Kart 8 - Re-release of a game I already own on Wii U
Zelda - Released on Wii U cheaper so not an exclusive - top game tho.
Dark Souls Remastered - re-release (yawn)
    SkyRim - re-release (still yawning)
Mario Odyessy - OK legitimate release - so far the count is 1!
Ultra SF2 - bought and 6 months later the complete collection of SF2 announced at the same price.
Celeste - Best game ever apparently - bought and thought WTH?!? Whoever said that must have played pacman and then this...
Every single Neo-Geo game ever - I dont want retro after retro, re-release after re-release!

This game probably released as an easy port and nothing more - code is just sitting there, might as well release on the next platform with relatively no work involved to port (I'm guessing).

33 Metacritic average for the Wii game. I'm not sure why you're posting these low-rated games OP.

Or Kingdom Battle. Or Arms. Or Splatoon 2.

Arms - bored me after a few goes - it is a fun game just the fun factor wore off relatively quick - need a return to Fight Night boxing series - typical EA probably cant figure out how to create loot boxes in a boxing game so abandon the series...

Splatoon 2 - had to buy 2 copies for both Switches so the KIDS could play - really annoyed me that the multiplayer only possible with a cart each. Not a bad game but easy to put down after a few goes - the addictiveness just isnt there I feel. You know that type of game that keeps you up till 4am and you have work the same day?

Xenoblade C2 - role playing just isnt my cup of tea. Got SkyRim & Dark Souls and just decided not a fan of this style.

So you agree there's plenty of high rating games on the Switch, but that they're not for you for various good/bad reasons.

Wow, currently 76 heat for a 33-rated game. I find it hard to imagine that a PS4 or XB1 33-rated game would get the same heat.

Def. not high rated - stating the overall quality & longevity of the games on the Switch just isnt there and working on re-releasing material that has been proven a success on other consoles is playing it extremely safe - if thats the gameplan then release some more adult orientated games this time. This is a console that has been limited in its abilites (online, streaming, browsing) and then focuses on releasing re-releases or back catalogues from consoles of yesteryear. Most gamers that are in the hardcore category, paying close to twice as much whats its retailing for on more powerful consoles is frustrating. The choice of games maybe there but quality choice? Absolutely not.

If you say so, but you're moving the goalposts again with a requirement of "quality and longevity". Your opinion is valid, but Metacritic disagrees with you.

I know which one I trust more, if forced to choose.

Sounds like you're not happy with the Switch, where a lot of people in fact are - user-base of Metacritic included. Compare the same time frame with either the PS4 or Xbox One, and I think you'll find that Nintendo have more "hits" like-for-like in their first year.

Bringing across WiiU games makes sense, when hardly anyone had one and got to experience a good portion of great titles on a flawed machine. (I had a WiiU but didn't keep it long for reasons). Both Sony and MS port across in one way or another, but with a wider dev base, have more opportunities for unique IPs - yet the HD remasters/re-releases don't seem to get the same grief as Nintendo.

Maybe you're not the intended audience for this console?

One thing we can agree on - shovelware is a scourge on any system!

Personally I'm glad to see Wii U games coming across. Considering the user base for the Switch has grown to be higher than that of the Wii U in just 10 months it makes perfect sense to do this, but there's also a good amount of exclusives considering that it's still a new system. Mario Odyssey, Rabbids Kingdom Battle, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Golf Story have been more than enough to keep me busy in between enjoying the novelty playing some old favourites such as Puyo Puyo Tetris, Steamworld Dig and Doom on a portable system. This has been as good a console launch as any in recent memory in my opinion, with the only drawback being a couple of shoddy third party ports, Nintendo's poor online infrastructure and the delay in launching apps that should really be standard by now such as Netflix and YouTube.

Aye have to wholeheartedly agree with you - this machine isnt intended for me.

Lol@Metacritic - hard to find fault with that argument.

Apologies for not being a paid reviewer - the profession (playing games) is attractive - the salary not so much hence why I didnt become a professional writer reviewing games but did start in the days of Atari, Game & Watch - so been around. Been lucky to own every single console to date inc. Neo Geo when launched! Damn those cartridges were criminally priced.

1 thing that does annoy me about all reviewers is the majority dont pay for the games/goods they review so that does impact the overall review if you ask me as someone that pays full whack for release titles so I want a genuine value for the money/ROI - hence the longetivity. That being said, I do agree with 80% of metacritic reviews but they tend to be movie orientated. Guess I'm a Rockstar gamer since GTA came onto the scene and cute and cuddly wears thin quickly after my APB!

Imagine Manhunt on the Switch! (edited)

Wii U probably didnt sell well because more of the same? I dont know as same argument can be used for PS4 Pro & Xbox One X I guess - incremental hardware upgrades for better graphics as all games must run on their lower counterparts. Releasing Wii U titles on the switch doesnt do anything for Wii u owners unless you want to relive the title again on the loo!

Manhunt made it on the Wii, so you never know.

And yes reviewers probably don't pay for titles that's true, but it is the same across all platforms and that balances out any metacritic skew in that regard.

Plus with all the loot boxes in games now, I'm pretty sure reviewers don't get those free! (edited)
