Tesco will replace damaged bags for life for free

Many people will know this already but for those who do not, if you have a Tesco bag for life and it gets worn out they will replace it free of charge in any store. Not exactly deal of the century but 'every little helps'.
Don't know about other supermarkets so let me know if you have returned any

This has always been the case. That’s why they all have 2 barcodes. One on the outside to buy it.
The second one hidden in the folds of the bottom. When scanned makes it free.

Explaining why every now and again some ‘Genius’ tells us of a glitch to get them free. Despite it being a scam and fraudulent behaviour.

Of course; after the first exchange you then have a new bag (to exchange when that one breaks).

Had an old hessian bag for life but when I tried to replace it I was only offered a plastic one. So who knows what their exchange policy will be in a few years.

It says so in large letters on the bag. How have you missed this for so long? It also says it at the checkout. . That's why they call it a bag for life

Morrisons are also trialing a similar scheme to Tesco whereby scrapping and phasing out their 5p Carrier Bag for the 10p Bag for Life in March 2018. inews.co.uk/new…gs/

There is a serious disadvantage and design flaw with the Bags for Life as the plastic handles are glued (bonded) onto the bag. This means that too much weight, the handles come apart from the Carrier Bag. A normal standard bag made from a single piece of plastic has a better tensile strength and less likely to break. Unfortunately from experience found that putting a couple of heavy items into the bag (cartons of milk), the handles fell apart.

This annoys me, you goto supermarket and need a bag, since you have forgotten you own bag. they sell you a really thick plastic bag for life, which has about 5 times the plastic in the old thin bags.
bring back the thin plastic bags, and scrap the thick plastic bags for life. (edited)
