Which original 3DS do you own? These 2DS consoles have all the "New 3DS" improvements, which means some games are exclusive(not many, I only know of Xenoblade off the top of my head) and other games run better than on the base console. As well as built in amiibo support and some other stuff.
Besides that, the larger screen is still the same resolution. It means the image will be blown up to fit the bigger screen, but the clarity won't be quite as good since the pixel density is lower. Most people probably won't mind that, and will enjoy the larger screen, but it's something worth mentioning never the less.
Transferring is very easy, you just go to the system transfer in settings on both consoles and you can select which to send to/from. You'll need an internet connection for it. It'll transfer over some things, move some titles to the micro sd if necessary, and then you just use the old micro sd in the new system. (You can put the micro sd which came with the new system in the old console in case you want to give it to someone).
