I've been using a Bosch cordless lawnmower for the last three seasons and would never go back to a corded one - but they are very expensive. A new 36v 4Ah battery for mine costs more than this whole mower, which has a Samsung 36v 4Ah battery! Claimed 60 minute runtime so you should be able to cut a reasonably big garden on one charge. Brushless motor should provide more power, less battery consumption and longer life.

Decent 40cm cutting width (so not one of those 'mini-mowers'), big grassbox, one lever for adjustment between 7 cutting heights (25mm - 75mm) and it has a 3 year warranty too!

Looks great. Would love to hear from anyone who has one.

I've sent an enquiry to Aldi on this. Will post answer.

Mine has just been delivered. Can't use due to the weather but impressed so far. Much sturdier than the Spearman and Jackson one £179.99 at Argos that I returned last week. Here's the spec from the User Manual 33551430-fs9u7.jpg33551430-uoOVo.jpgI assembled it in about 10 minutes but would of been 5 if I didn't put the washers in the wrong place. Hope this information helps.

I used to assume they shouldn't be stored in the shed through winter (too cold) like Ni-Cd but it seems that lower temperatures are actually good for them in storage (maybe not actually frozen though?). Probably take more charge if charged at room temp though.

I used it in the back garden (as I'm impatient and rain is forecast for the next 10 days!) anyway, I used it for 15 minutes and stopped and restarted it 4 times to see how it would do and it used one bar of battery. It was easy to push on my bumpy lawn though I'm short, I don't know how a tall person would find the handle height. Really, really impressed so far.

I've been in touch with Aldi's service agent regarding additional batteries: they expect to have them but unfortunately can't confirm the price until they come in. They are on the number showing on your spec page: 01904 727501. The same place handles the warranty so there's none of the 'send it to Germany' nonsense which I used to see on Aldi products.I can't find anything excluding the battery from the three year warranty (is there anything with the mower?) - if so it must be the only place which will cover a battery for that long!

They claim 60 minutes but I guess that depends on the length of the grass (not good for the grass to cut more than 1/3 each time anyway). Also: it helps extend the charge life if you minimise the on/off cycle: I'm guessing it takes an extra whack out of the battery every time it restarts; eg keep it going as you turn at the end of each length of the lawn and remove any obstacles before you start the job so you don't have to keep stopping.

Anyone know the lowest cutting height?

25MM lowest cutting height, going up in stages to 75mm according to Aldi brochure

Just picked one up from my local Aldi, loads of stock. It does not have a roller thing for striping FYI (doesn't bother me personally)

Just picked one of these up and it's quite brilliant! Our garden is 200ft long with numerous trees (lots of manoeuvring) and I did the whole thing and it was still showing as half charged when.i plugged it.in again. Also got the strimmer and thats great too.

What I have found with these detals is it is cheaper to buy the mower than buy the battery !! - i.e. The Macallister battery for its cordless garden equipment costs around £45. I bought a new hedgetrimmer and then a new strimmer for less than the price of two batteries and chargers. So I now have two bits of cordless equipment plus spare batteries and chargers

33551799-9OTkz.jpgI hold out high hopes for this machine. It is far superior in build to the other one. The battery was part charged and took only 10 minutes to fully charge. Aldi said it would be here next Saturday so I can't fault the delivery. Hopefully, I can use it tomorrow and update you on the performance. Fingers crossed!

Thank you, I've never had a cordless one before so I will keep that in mind. The grass has already been cut a few weeks ago so hopefully it won't be too difficult. The grass area is approx 30' x 60' and I have a front garden that is 30'. Like you say the better ones are around £400 and the cheaper ones do not have such a wide cut or collection bin. I'm assuming I won't be able to make the lines with this but a small sacrifice if it works well for that price. I will let you know how I get on.

Saw these in aldi today and was tempted. Look like it is a rebranded Ryobi RLM3640 from the model number in the pics above from the manual. Seems to be the same design roughly so that may help with purchasing decisions.

Picked one up in-store today, impressed with both build quality and the mow. For the money you can't really go wrong!

I received mine - it appears well made although on mine the there is a manufacture fault on the metal stem - it is bent so that its curve is too narrow to fit onto the base and the metal is too strong to bend to the correct shape.

Customer services was excellent. They took the call quickly and arranged for a swap out quickly.

Looking forward to hacking away the overgrown end of my garden which I cannot reach even with an extension cable.

Now sold out on-line - there were 5 available at 12.30 and 3 left after they swapped mine out. There may be some in stores. Good luck if you are after one. Seems a great price - especially with the 4Ah battery (edited)

Both much smaller and the Greenworks one only has one 2Ah battery - so half the capacity and only a claimed 20 mins runtime; £80 for a second 2Ah battery.

Should be possible to get another battery for the Einhell but I couldn't see it listed at Toolstation.

This may be a better alternative (but much more expensive):toolstation.com/sho…=no (edited)

Yes it does say 20 minutes but the reviews indicate otherwise. People say it gives a good cut as well. I dont think size is a big deal.

If your grass has got long over the winter like mine has remember to cut only 1/3 as it doesn't do the grass any good to cut more each time; also hard on the battery. If you haven't had a battery mower before you may find this helpful: it helps extend the charge life if you minimise the on/off cycle: I'm guessing it takes an extra whack out of the battery every time it restarts; eg keep it going as you turn at the end of each length of the lawn and remove any obstacles before you start the job so you don't have to keep stopping. Having said that, if it really does run for an hour on one charge you'd need a big garden to exhaust it. I like the look of it; if I didn't have my Bosch already I'd go for this one. The metal bar for the on/off switch looks easier to use than the Bosch one too. My Bosch cost more than this second hand and a new one is over £400! (edited)

    I don't think so. Have a look here: aldi.co.uk/gar…000

If you mean you want it to chop the grass and leave the clippings on the lawn I'm sure it will do that but it's not a good idea for your lawn.
