So guys, looking to buy a new kitchen and hoping to rely on my fellow hukkers to help and advise me from their knowledge and experience.
I've been to wren, Howdens, wickes and bnq so far and obviously was put under pressure to buy. I've not budged and there's some differences in the price but they are all there abouts.
I'm more asking about how the kitchens actually stack up quality wise, after sales service, guarantees and are they honoured or do you have to argue with them.
Each place showed me the benefits of theirs whilst the negatives of the others which was informative.
But ultimately I'm looking for actual reviews from people. Not sure if I trust trustpilot but it's a source of information.

sorted byI think the main issue with wren is their customer service and after sales. That's the bulk of the 1 star ratings on TP. that once you've paid you're on your own. The sales rep in the shop do not want to know and its a PITA trying to get their customer service team to work efficiently enough to resolve issues.
My wife ruled out Wren kitchens when the sales dude asked to speak to her husband, and did the crappy sales tactic of massively over quoting then offering huge discounts.
I would have gone mental if he’d said that to me too.
Well done to your wife on making that obvious decision.
(recently went to the local Mercedes dealers to buy a new car, salesman gave my husband all the spiel about power, torque, cylinders, performance etc and then after remembering that I existed, asked me what colour do you want?

The second they drop the price, any trust goes out if the window, quickly followed by the rep. If they can do it for £15k instead of £20k, why didn't they offer that in the first place.
exactly, we had a guy come out for a drive way quote, told him from the beginning not to do it and he even tried, sat there for about 30 minutes and had to manhandle him out of the house he just wouldnt leave. You get some sales guys who are good but reality is most try it on when all people want it honest reliable companies.

From what I remember the Wickes carcasses are made of a few mm thicker board than B&Q and therefore should be stronger.
I’ve bought 5/6 kitchens over the last 10 years and have always plumped for B&Q, really for price, availability and customer service.
Visited Wrens last week but didn’t like that the salesman followed you around and were pushy. they had some good displays but nothing you couldn’t source from elsewhere and incorporate into your kitchen making a ‘cheap kitchen’ look expensive. I quickly learnt to buy off the shelf units and doors use integrated appliances and upgrade the handles and worktop.
Correct we had quote and they told us ! And we seen with our own eyes cheap though and do look good!
Wren kitchens come pre fitted don't they so theoretically you save money by not getting someone to fit it from flat pack.
No the Vogue come flat pack now at Wren. So you can save money that way. And I heard the same about Wren but I only had two minor issues with minor things which I had to ring up customer services about they resolved the issue within 2 days I had a delivery of two new parts free of charge obviously.

So I've got to design it though? Meaning measurements etc? I'll have to check if they have a showroom near us.
What's the back board on the units made out of and if chip board, how thick is it? Soft close features as standard?
Definitely put off by wren due to the hardcore sales tactic. I was ready to walk out but stayed because of the Mrs.
Its about time those sales tactics died a death, it may work on some but just gives my wife the rage and they automatically lose the sale.
I almost felt sorry for the ford salesman when he tried handing me the keys to a focus RS to me for a test drive and for her to have a look at a Ka.
He lost the sale and was erm educated that females can also be petrol heads. So proud of her, confidence is so attractive.
They could easily avoid losing the sale by asking a few simple questions and not making dated assumptions.
Wren kitchens assumed that my wife was tied to the kitchen sink, if he had asked a few questions he would have found out she does about 5% of the cooking.
At that point he could have recovered by presenting a straightforward quote, but he played the dated game of starting at a stupid price then speaking with his manager to get a special one off at 60% offl if we sign up now.
Too late Mr Salesdude, you have triggered rage Level 3 and released the sass.
Makes you wonder how many people pay the first quote. I assume the crappy tactics work on some customers.
When I have my kitchen doen I'll either use them or Howdens. Howdens will beat DIY Kitchens by 10% allegedly, but you may find at Howdens you get a better price if you get your Tradesman to buy.
