About this deal

This deal is expired. Here are some options that might interest you:

Ever got annoyed that sainsbury's only print out coupons after you have paid, so you have to wait till your next shop to use them (or more likely lose them first, like I always do), rather than being able to use them on the shop you just paid for?

How to get Sainsbury's Coupons before you shop!
  • Go to a self service till
  • Scan your Nectar card
  • Immediately click "pay" without scanning any items
  • The till just dumps out all the coupons Sainsburys was due to give you (such as triple nectar points etc).
  • You can then use them immediately.

I usually buy the cheapest thing I can find to get the coupons then go back and do my normal shop with my coupons.

1 very small carrot or onion is usually really cheap.

People in here actually believing that self-service checkouts don't solely exist because they're cheaper for the supermarket than a human cashier. And making fun of people who don't use them out of principle. The ignorance in this site's comments never ceases to amaze.

your logic is a tad flawed in that it takes far more people to build these machines than the single person who used to operate the till. Would you rather 10-20 be out of work than the potentially 1 on a till who was actually more than likely redistributed to another part of the shop....

    Not true

It's true to an extent. I've worked in retail including retail management for almost 10 years now. A certain pool of hours are allocated to the store for staff. This pool may change depending on the way the organisation works for example it may increase if sales increase and likewise reduce if sales reduce. Till trained staff in larger supermarkets generally stay on that task for the most part during their shift.

The presence of self service tills means less hours given to the store which ultimately equates to less staff needed. It's a cost saving exercise and also offers convenience for customers - that is when they aren't bleating out "unexpected item in bagging area" at a ridiculously loud volume.

That’s exactly why self-scans should be installed in every single shop so that people wouldn’t waste their life doing a job that can be done by a machine. (And I know what I’m talking about, I was working for Sainsburys for a while)

I hope you don't use supermarkets either; but instead go to a traditional store where the shop-keep brings the goods to you.

If you do go to a supermarket, you at least leave the trolley right in the far corner of the car park.

    [Image] Great thread @dazigster !

Thanks! I only just became aware this was of interest to anyone else at all when - bizarrely - I started getting national news stories about it turning up in my Google News feed of "stories I might like":

    mirror.co.uk/money/hero-shopper-spills-little-known
    manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/uk-news/sainsburys-nectar-coupons-triple-point
    birminghammail.co.uk/whats-on/shopping/hero-sainsburys-shopper-reveals-nectar

I guess Google knows me well.

    "Hero Shopper"? I'll take that

Um... does this happen every time you post something on here? (edited)

We switched to Aldi. Sainsbury’s is IMO expensive. The vouchers make it bearable(just) so heat to the OP.
