But no, it's name is from the counter-terrorist group in the book. Rainbow being the name of the unit and six was the geezer in charge iirc.

I can't think of anything else relevant. MMLXXVII is 2077, which I'm assuming means it's a promo connected to CDProject Red's Cyberpunk 2077.

I assume the code might have worked for the first 2077 activations only. It sounds logical considering the early errors people started getting (temporarily locked because it was recently viewed by someone else), which happens for all regular GOG codes if another account has opened a code but not activated it yet. I guess after that limit was reached, the code just stopped working.

Look out for it in the Steam sale next week - its base price there is £3.99 and a 50% cut is very much a possibility.

Official statement from GOG.com -
