    Don't forget to wash them before you eat them to get rid of any germs!

    Yep, a friend used to work at Wilko's years ago and she always warned me off the pick and mix, saying kids always have their grubby hands in there. Have you ever seen the containers being emptied and cleaned?? Same goes for cinema popcorn apparently.

    Have you got a weaker immune system than a child, I've never seen the guardian report or daily mail about children dying from every day germs.

    I eat their pick and mix occasionally. I’ll have the last laugh for a few decades when my immune system keeps me going way past all the people who dodge stuff like this

    I love their Pick and Mix. However, whenever this is on in my local Wilko (Lowestoft), some greedy git always empties the ‘gourmet’ jelly beans. I know they’re not like actual Gourmet jelly beans, but they’re pretty decent. Really hacks me off because I like them but can never get them in the offer!

    Damn first world problems eh?!

    Wilkos have a strict cleaning policy with its pick n mix to be fair. They have 3 different coloured scoops, one for the morning, one for dinner and one for the afternoon, so they are monitored throughout the day. But as always, grab the sweets from the back, that's just sensible practice (edited)

    The term “pick n mix” has to be broken down, pick means that kids will pick every part of there body with a hole in it, while mix means that they’ll mix it up day to day, eg pick nose one day and the next pick there bum just handling the sweets!

    I once saw a lady in Woolwich grabbing them with her hands and a few times putting it back. I made a point of putting my cup down and gave her a disgusting look. Never been back for the pick and mix since.

    You don't know if you like a sweat until you've licked it, plus if you don't like it just put it back to be eco, everyone wins.

    Can confirm this is pick n mix policy across the board rather than just Wilkos. Taking sweets from the back is always safe as they stock up from the back so new sweets will always be at the back.

    Hypothetical bacteria journey for a day

    John has a poo.
    John wipes his bum.
    John doesn't bother washing hands.
    John heads to the shop.
    John buys something with £1 coin.
    <Faecal bacteria transfer to £1 coin>
    Thetruthh goes into the shop, buys something and receives said £1 coin in change.
    Thetruthh has an itch on nose.
    Thetruthh itches nose.
    <Faecal bacteria transfer to Thetruthh's nose>
    Thetruthh eats pack of nuts bought from shop.
    Nut stuck in Thetruthh's teeth. Puts finger in mouth, dislodges nut.
    <Faecal bacteria transfer to mouth>

    Pick and mix are the least of your worries. Get yourself to wilkos and stock up!

    Got mine today, though typical Portsmouth store were unprepared. No large or sharing cups, only sharing lids... And no sweet bags either! Had to pay 5p extra just to get a plastic bag to put them in and had to settle for medium. Ah well. Still happy. (edited)

    Don't get why people are trying to put others off from enjoying the pick n mix pretty much anything you eat has been handled like a pic n mix system and witnessing what adults do with there hands at food factories is no different. Either enjoy it or jog on, no need to give others your OCD thoughts.

    Container do get emptied and cleaned. They usually do that after hours. Cinema popcorn is fine, no one puts their hands in it
