Haha. The irony of when you type a comment and forget it's linked. You know what I meant hopefully lol

I bought 4 of these for a 1.9 CDTI Vectra and got just 7000 miles on the front two and 9000 on the rear. Excellent grip wet and dry, but not economical at all for family motoring.

Great price. Wish some of my size would turn up this cheap, had some of these On a previous car and really liked them but as I don’t NEED any yet I can’t justify paying more for them yet ( 245/45/18 ) (edited)

I think the the love to shop voucher offer is on all the Uniroyal rain sport 3's..
Thanks for the feed back.. I've never fitted them before..

Recently bought 4 of these off of eBay for £51 each including delivery. Also used top cash back and got nectar points. Worth keeping an eye on there if you need some.

I have fitted these to my car in the past, and was very impressed, especially, and not surprisingly, in the wet. But as others have said they do wear quickly. After a scary experience in the Beast from the East, I have now moved onto Michelin CrossClimate+ and they are even better, but of course very significantly more expensive. (edited)

Agreed on both points. If your car has large/heavy engine consider something else

Well then you need to read my comment properly then! They sent me the wrong size tyres from what I ordered and spent a week chasing them up to collect and send me the correct size.

Great tyres (I've had rainsport 2 and 3 in the past). But beware, these are summer tyres, not all season. When it starts to get a bit cold the grip disappears.
The first time I bought I mistakenly thought they were all season.

There is something seriously wrong with your car or your driving.

Ive had 3 sets of these now on 2 different cars, great tyres all round in wet and dry i get 20k-30k out of them.
Do get a lot of road noise when getting to the end of there life ( down below 3.5mm)
    Very good price.

    Anyone know of a decent deal for 235 - 45R - 17 Cheers

Load rating depends on what car you have.

Personally I'd lose 1cm off the width and get 225 45 17 and take the £5 cheaper tyre with £10 lovetoshop voucher per tyre on top.
  19. Jules_HT's avatar
The width will be fine (to put context on it, it's 5mm off each edge- manufacturers producing the same size tyre vary by more than that). It's going wider you need to be careful of, in case it rubs on full lock.

Then the lost height of sidewall will be fine also (you're talking about losing 5% of 1 cm = 0.5mm smaller diameter). To give that some context, a new tyre has 8mm of tread, an old one 1.6mm- so you've got nearly 13mm of changing diameter between a new and an old tyre.

I'd be primarily concerned with the sidewall and speed ratings. Certainly I'd recommend the 94 XL (i.e. extra load), that's what I use on my Saab 9-3 diesel sportwagon and it's got to be a pretty similar weight. What is the load and speed rating on the tyre currently on there?

Assuming it's a 2.0 diesel the Michelin site recommends on the one hand a 205 50 17, and on the other a 235 40 17 (nb. NOT 235 45 17 as you have, which will have a slightly higher sidewall than 235 40 17)). 225 45 17 sits slap in the middle of those two! michelin.co.uk/tyr…res

EDIT: just make sure you have the same size on any given axle (i.e. you're fine having 235 45 17 on the rear and 225 45 17 on the front, but don't put one 225 45 17 on one wheel whilst leaving a 235 45 17 on the other side of the same axle). (edited)
  20. Jules_HT's avatar
OK so your W tyre can do 168 MPH (not that your car can :)) and the Y 186MPH!

You will be fine on the 225 45 17 94Y XL. In fact with the extra load sidewall (represented by the XL) you may find the tyre handles the weight of the car a bit better (particularly up front with that heavy old diesel engine).

Yeah the site is up, I'm getting no problem at all. Perhaps just Google Camskill and go from there- 17" tyres, scroll down to Uniroyal, make sure you select the 225 45 17 XL ones and you're good to go.

I only came across this thread because I knew I wanted a pair of these from Camskill and was pleasantly surprised to see the voucher offer. Of course I came to post the deal here, only to find it already up!

These are brilliant tyres, wet grip is insane. Wear rate is reasonable, had them on for about 13000 mile with 4mm left before I sold the car.

Perhaps not as easy as that... I managed 9k to the wear bars on the front of my Panda
Fitted another pair and the rears still going strong though, good tyres for grip. (edited)

So typical - just got rid of my Octavia VrS with this tyre size.

I have some at double the price as they are 19s , damp weather grip is very good .Dry weather grip when pushing invokes a bit of slip even in this heat But overall they arent to far from previus Pirelli P zeros. They dont handle standing water at all surprisingly ( think dark motorway) . They are noisy especially and parking speeds.

Wont buy again , will spend the extra on P4Ss

Excellent tyres but do wear quickly on heavy, torquey cars. Just over 20K miles on the current set (from Camskill) on my Swift Sport (1.6 petrol) and will last another 1 or 2K - my previous Fabia VRS (1.9 diesel) saw off a pair of fronts in 7K miles.

I will be ordering a set before the end of the month to take advantage of these vouchers.
