Finish or Fairy dishwasher tablets?

Posted 13th Oct 2018
Hey.
Can you help me with picking the right dishwasher tablets?
I’ve been using the Fairy original tablets (84pk) I don’t use them often and I’ve had the pack for 6 months... they’ve become really dry and started sticking to each other (no idea why because they just sit in the cupboard in the original packaging)....
I want to try Finish tablets but I’ve heard that they sometimes don’t dissolve in the dishwasher...
Any ideas?

I've always found fairy to be a lot better than finish.
They have stuck together because the plastic wrapping is water soluble and cupboard can be humid

I use Lidl own, always felt happy with the results.

I’ve used both fairy and finish, they aren’t better and clean the same. Your just paying for the name.

If you wanted to try the finish tablets before buying a big box, Poundstretcher sell a box of 10 for £1.
I used to buy finish, but in an emergency one week I bought Aldi’s. Found the results were exactly the same, Mind you, I don’t have heavily soiled plates and rinse any pans out before putting in the machine.

£9 for 110 finish powerball from The range, B&M, Savers, That's what we use. It's as good as anything else. Tip.. Use salt if in hard water area. Machine will last longer. Clean better. Stay clean inside and salt is cheaper than chips. Crazy that folks don't use salt when it tells you to in the instructions. The salt in tabs is not strong enough for some areas (edited)

Even the all in one tablet manufacturers recommend using salt with their product in all but very soft water areas.

I use salt, I live in a hard water area, the softener is set to max. All the salt in the world won't make finish classic tablets usable though.

I've read that if you don't use salt in a water softener for a long time in a hard water area, the ion exchange resin in the softener unit can get coated in limescale stopping it working properly when you do top it up, although you might be able to recover it using citric acid.

I avoid gel tabs, they tend to leave a silky feel to the dishes, stick to powdered tabs

I’ve been using liquid for the last couple of months and it’s great. Waitrose and Sainsbury’s do their own brand. Wouldn’t go back to tablets now.

I use shops own brand and seems to always clean. Will using more expensive tablets mean I can use the quick cycle instead?

Those are the finish Classic ones, they're absolutely dreadful, worst tablets I've ever tried, they leave a horrid grey residue all over my pans and cutlery. They're not the same as the finish tablets sold in major uk supermarkets. (edited)

The cheapest you can get is always best in my experience. Vanish do a rolling discount where they are half price for 50% of the time I think. But just get the cheapest and don't fall for the other gimmicks about cleaner and rinser etc.

Many others are of the same opinion. It’s likely that fairy or finish make the Aldi tablets anyway as happens for a lot of supermarkets!

Min their opinion also. Finish likely make the Aldi tablets because they are a compressed powder no coatingand also not as good as fairy. The fairy ones are totally different and in my dishwasher wash the dishes much better
