I will attempt to answer this genuinely. Most people are vegans because they either don't like animals being killed for food or they want a healthier diet. Vegan food tasting like meat (or attempting to) does not go against any reason for being vegan, in fact it may be more appealing to ex-meat eaters. For a small amount of vegans meat tasting substitutes may remind them of animals etc but I think for the most part, they're satisfied in that they've got a nice product without harming any animals. Hope I helped
Sad thing is, it's not really a joke though, my old manager became a vegan, he was a nice guy, liked him. Suddenly he's posting anti meat posts all over his facebook page, private messages and all sorts, had to un-follow him so I didn't see all his meat is murder posts constantly.
Nothing worse than people trying to force their beliefs onto others.
One person does something = all people does that thing
I'm offended at the use of very old jokes
Could be worse, he could come knocking on your door every other week telling you about his lord and saviour.
I clearly must be doing something wrong, as a vegan on minimum wage I feel so posh now, eating my baked beans!
'cos they like everything about meat, apart from the fact that you have to kill an animal to get it.
Pretty simple, really.
They're opposed to actual meat, not opposed to food with a certain taste and texture.
It's like no-alcohol beer. Might not be for you, but surely not too much of a stretch to imagine that it might just work for someone?
100% of the vegans he knows did it
For lunch maybe. I guess you could have it for dinner with chips and beans though.
I understand your point. Someone else made the same point a few days ago.
It just isn't a very good point when you really think about it.
Course you can deny it. Large number is pretty subjective to start with. You also have to figure out what percentage of vegans doing it would make it a large enough number to really justify saying that it isn't really a poorly done old joke.
If there are 100 million vegans and you know 5 that do it then that is not a large number.
If there are 100 million vegans and say 30 million do it then you could argue that is a fairly substantial number.
Veganism in this country is like POSH habit or show off ... Even if people want to adapt vegan diet or food, there is no such incentives from government or traders or retailers, neither from health services too. As all know the benefits of having vegan diet or food. That's only reason I'm vegetarian... Because I can't afford vegan restaurant and food ! Simple
So a post on facebook is trying to force beliefs onto others but coming round and actually knocking on your door in real life is not pushing it?
You have a strange line but i guess it is yours to decide.
Pretty sure that isn't true.
(I'm not remotely a vegan, by the way, but I enjoy the ingenuity behind a lot of these alternatives, not to mention the taste).
100% of flat earthers are human I heard. Though elephants have some weird ideas.
Just because a person is vegan doesn't mean they don't love the taste of meat. People choose to give up meat for several reasons, health, climate or animals. Having food that tastes like meat without having to kill an animal is a great thing. Not only for those who are vegan but also for those feeling its actually wrong to kill animal, more people have tried the vegan meat alternatives and if it means they slowly switch, that's a good thing as well.
I seriously can't believe so many people struggle with this. Its blindingly simple.
A lot of people, myself included grew up enjoying animal products and enjoyed the tastes and textures but we either have love for animals, the planet, our health or combinations of those aspects. Substitutes like these sausage rolls allow us to enjoy what we always have but without all the negatives.
It is not a case of 'cashing in on veganism', it is called diversifying, moving with the times in a quickly changing market in order to survive.
We don't eat meat substitutes because it reminds us of eating animals, we eat it because we used to like the taste of meat but are against the killing of animals and/or the environmental impact is has. I have been vegan for 4 years and I gave up meat due to the deplorable standards of the meat industry. Now I can eat meat substitutes with a clear conscience.
Hope this helps you understand a little better
I think you have very high expectations of what goes into a Tesco Value sausage roll.
A Greggs sausage roll is only 18% pork. (And not sure how much of that is 'meat' or eyeball and spinal cord tissue?)
I've been vegan for over 4 years now. I've never felt better and according to recent blood tests etc. I'm also the healthiest I've been for years. Personally I don't find it difficult. I take supplements but I always have anyway. I thought going from vegetarian to vegan would be hard but it was a very easy progression. I don't push my views on anyone but if they want to know anything I'll tell them. I look forward to trying Tesco's vegan sausage roll
Seems an odd way to fill your time clicking on irrelevant deals to discuss/ be offended by them. Im not much of a camping person so if see any deals with camping equipment i will just keep scrolling.
They could believe in more crazy things like Man United being a decent team post Fergie
I'm sure some vegans don't even care about the animal. It is just better for the environment over all to be vegan.
I'm not vegan, I do care about the environment though. It makes me a hypocrite in my own mind but i don't have the willpower for veganism currently.
I wouldn't look down on people who have the willpower just to make myself feel better about my own inadequacy.
Being a meat eater before they are used to it and enjoyed it
So why not try have the same thing?
I spose vegans was meat lovers at some point too, not all stop because they don't like the taste/texture
(Meat eater)
Guarantee?
Cool! So if I think the vegan one tastes better, do I need to send you my receipt?
No I agree
I love meat and can never see my self stop eating it. But I am open to reducing the amount I eat with subsiding with alternatives (cloned)
why is it sad that i now have an extra option of food? is it taking anything away from your life?
What do you mean buddy? I'm vegan and it's really easy and cheap. A decent meal would be a load of white rice, chopped mushrooms, onions, red kidney beans (in chilli sauce) and bang some spices in on top. Tastes great and if you look at nutrients it's great. Don't get caught up paying for vegan ice cream and meat substitutes, that crap is all BS anyway. It defeats the purpose of being "healthy".
This is a tired old stick that vegetarians/vegans have been poked with for years.
Example: my wife’s veggie, I’m not. Sometimes we have a meal like bolognese, or chilli, and most of the sauce is cooked in one pan, then the veggie mince is fried up in another, and lamb or beef mince in a third pan. But we’re basically having the same meal (in reality I tend to just eat veggie mince more than meat as it’s perfectly nice and way less hassle).
There are loads of veggie/vegan pies and assorted pastry concoctions that are heavy on things like kale, beetroot etc, some are nice, some are utterly rank.
But people need protein, and companies have long realised that just swapping out the meat and non-vegan elements for good, tasty alternatives is what the marketplace wants. It’s not about making it taste like meat, so much as just being a like-for-like. Like two people going for white coffees and one of them having soy milk. It’s still two coffees. Ditto with pie and mash, one chicken and mushroom, one chicken-style chunks and mushroom - it’s still two pies, just with different ingredients. Ditto anything.
My family freak out when we’re coming over because they can’t get their heads round that all they need to do is swap out the bits of a meal my wife won’t eat for something she will. Otherwise she’ll have essentially the same meal they will. It’s really not hard.
Wow someones took offence today.
It wont taste anything like meat, same as the cheap meat sausage rolls taste nothing like meat
you don't see a difference between someone constantly posting links about animal slaughter, meat is murder and various other things along those lines, and someone knocking on your door and politely asking if you liked to talk about god(or not) and leaving when you say no.
Eating baked beans whole of my life... Is like tortures
