It's usually not the warmest (especially the beans) in our local Ikea.

It's terrible at £2.50 being cheaper doesn't make it taste any better.- IKEA food is always terrible. Every time I go there I think "everyone goes on about IKEA food, this is going to be really good". And every time, it is worse than my 1990s school cafeteria served. Meatballs are horrible.
They should start giving out to IKEA "family" members the bright red tickets us poor sods on free school meals used to have to hand over to get our meal (maximum value £1.75). Ideally they should force you to pick all the chewing gum off the tablets if you didn't bring in your maths homework as well, to complete the paying very little money for terrible food experience.

The old veggie sausages were tasty, but for the pass few months, our local IKEA has switched two different types of veggie sausage; the last attempt taste horrible like some sort of fake meat sauage, and now the current one taste like something out of Indian foodVeggie sausages are nice and mushrooms instead of bacon.
Question how cheap it is all you like, it's a textbook loss-leader to get people through the door bright and early so they can spend spend spend on the profitable things like tea-lights and bookshelves.
That said it's a canteen breakfast made for not a lot of money, anyone going in expecting otherwise will be in for a shock.
Throw in a free coffee and it's a super-cheap if not super-cheerful breakfast.

Take the VAT off and Ikea are getting £1.46 for the breakfast. A single supermarket sausage is about 25p (regular Tesco £1.99 for 6), a single piece of bacon about 18p, an egg about 15p (although might be two eggs worth), a hash brown 8p, some beans about 8p half a tomato about 5p. So maybe 75p worth of ingredients even at Tesco prices (Aldi etc would be cheaper), a catering wholesaler would be even cheaper. So 70p to pay the staff and the heating/washing/lighting costs etc. They probably aren't making a profit, but the ingredients cost is well covered
Its quite possible to make this breakfast cheaper yourself (although obviously you need to get pack of 8 sausage, 8 bacon etc), but you wouldn't be complaining about it being too cheap if you bought the ingredients from a supermarket.jon81uk19/06/2019 10:50

People often overlook or forget to factor in the running cost like staffs required for washing/cleaning and serving.
Also it's not just about the food, it is also about having a place to relax/chill. On my occasional day-off from work during the weekdays, I would go to IKEA to have breakfast, surf the web for a bit while helping myself to some free tea and coffee, and after that would have a casual walk around the shop floor looking at the furniture (window shopping). I got lost in the Cardiff IKEA once for what seened like days. I got there about 8.45 in the morning. Didn't get out of there till almost 7 at night. If it wasn't for the restaurant I would have starved. Haddock and chips... No cod... Damn Swedes...

For sure they make money on it but on top of the ingredients you need to add costs like staff remuneration, electricity, water, wastes bills, all coshh products, disposables, and food that goes into the bin after 2h display.

I used to eat the veggy option loads when it was 99p, it felt okay value when it hit £1.50. I know it's just an extra 25p but it's such a poor veggy breakfast it hardly seems worth it.
I mean sure, the tea and coffee is free but that's free anyway, regardless of whether you buy the breakfast.
Unfortunatly the regular coffee sucks. It's crazy as it was only when they stopped giving out those milk creamers that I realised how bad the coffee was. It totally disguised the taste. (edited)

When you shop in store at Ikea , you can get a free cup of tea or filter coffee or upgrade to a cappuccino or latte for 50p when you swipe an Ikea Family card at the in-store restaurant. Monday - Friday

Visit any Ikea store with a restaurant on weekdays till 11am you can get a 6 item cooked breakfast for £1.75 when you show an Ikea Family card at the till. If you don't have its free loyalty card, you can sign up online or in store.Without an Ikea Family card the same breakfast costs £2.50, so it's a 75p saving each time.
