Any hacks for getting NowTV onto a Hisense TV?

The title says it all really!

I bought the Football Season Ticket for the upcoming football, only to find out not all Smart TVs support NowTV, and mine doesn't.

Any way of watching it on the TV? The only way I can think of is by connecting a laptop via HDMI, which sucks.

Thanks in advance!

Looks like the best option is for me to save some £, and move the Xbox into the living room

Will also mean 50' 4k FIFA too, so not all bad thanks for all the suggestions

Its real bummer that you don't even get 4k on Now TV. Sky are greedy boys. (edited)

I've literally never had Sky before. This is my first flat and I spent my teen years streaming Arsenal games on dodgy sites

As above, do you just plug it into the HDMI port and that's it? (edited)

I'm thinking of just buying the Now TV box, that way I can watch 4k too. Make use of the resolution ^^

Can pick up a NowTV stick in CeX for around £7.50 sometimes less. They are often brand new someone's used the code that it came with for the low price and handed it straight in.

Roku Express can be picked up for around £25 and will allow the addition of many major apps for viewing free.

B&M usually have the Now TV box for cheap - the Box will do things like Netflix at 4k though. And it also acts as a freeview box, but nowadays, I'm not really sure why you would need that, except it add the possibilty of live pause for up to 30 mins iirc.

But yes, the XBox does it too. As long as you have XBox Live Gold, again iirc.

Primary, yes. But a tv box without freeview is literally a joke. It should be illegal to even call it a TV box, because it's not! You can't watch TV just paid for, specific subcriptions.
I picked up a modern 4g-resistant antenna from Wilko which gave me freeview for a tenner, and some TVs even have it built in. The fact that you don't even get it on an 'upgraded' £50 Sky TV box is a laugh.

Yeah that's pretty mad. Again, practically false advertising.

It's a real shame, I'm not sure 720p is going to look too great on a 50' TV :/ but what's the other option? Stream off dodgy sites in poor res anyways, or pay far more for a base Sky package + extras.

Sky need a gentle nudge from the Competition Commission. (edited)

The best thing you can probably do right now is to just go and read the product information for a Now TV stick on the website of Argos, Amazon, etc. If you are really that perplexed when it comes to figuring out what a streaming stick or set top box is then maybe just go in to somewhere like Curry's and ask them to explain it all to you. Asking if you need to have software installed on your tv to use one is kind of like asking if you need to have special software installed on your tv in order to plug your Playstation or DVD player in to it. The Now TV app is crippled on Android devices that have HDMI output.
  22. jco83's avatar
OP NowTV boxes are inexpensive they just connect to your TV via hdmi and they have a little remote control, the stick similarly. Another option is Chromecast which just plugs into your telly then you cast content to it from a mobile phone or tablet which then acts like a remote control for it, most apps have the cast functionality including the NowTV app. (edited)

Depending on the build version you can also add Netflix, Sky Store and a few other apps of varying use.

You want the remote with voice search to get this. You can't add Amazon Prime Video or the *ahem* cinema apps to this the way you can a firestick though.

No I tried for ages to get NowTV working on my Android TV by downloading various APK files all to no avail, even when I installed the APKs NowTV worked but screen rotation was the problem, finally I gave up, I had a old Roku Box which I started to use purely for NowTV, best option is to buy the stick or box like everyone else says, B+M usually sell them cheap, ASDA etc, or just buy one second-hand. All this sounds hard work, why don't you just install a good VPN ( Nord ) Install Tor and grab an ' onion link ' , every premier league game is on every sat , ok if you wanna cast it that's your $$£££ , but for a few Quid a month what's wrong with HD to TV from pc or get which I believe when you've put a browser on a Firestick you can get straight in to"" the sports bay.org"" and even First Row . Plenty of Vids with some great tech bods, but to be perfectly honest, I'd pack in watching The Gooners 😫 . That's harder work than setting up any stream lol . No , scrap that Now TV its garbage , Grab a Firestick and watch the vids , you'll be up n running soon. I believe the 4th Generation stick is popular ....
