sorted byi disagree. if someone gives me a pc running slow, it's easier to run this than reinstall windows, and all their programs, then faff around with all the settings they had. just disabling start up programs and deleting temp crap can make a huge difference, and perhaps a defrag if it's an HDD. like with any tool, it's what you do with it that counts. you could use a hammer to fix things, and also to break things
And people moan about Windows doing automatic updates but will happily install software that’ll update all your programs? F that. (edited)
my 12 year old windows laptop runs better than my 10 year old mac that doesn't let me install the latest versions of some programs, or update the OS to the latest version. it's about spec and how you look after your machine that counts
Easily done as the correct button isn't that obvious. That also happened to me first time I ran through this but I was doing it wrong. If you get to the Payment screen you have gone to far. After downloading and installing the setup file you have to navigate to a button labelled 'My Subscriptions" (Think it was top left on the "My AVG" menu). Paste in the code and you are done.
Why? I consider myself computer competent and this program saves loads of time manually updating various software, changing startup loading after each update etc. If you value time, then this with the free antivirus is a no brainer
Yes it does
Windows 10 does have it's own anti virus built in but could be worth scanning with Malwarebytes (free version) too malwarebytes.com/pri…ng/
Sweet - amended the steps above - thanks a lot for sharing your observations
hi, you may have tried a search. I too had the 100 percent disc usage problem. There may be as many as 3 elements within windows that need disabling and preventing from recurring. Unfortunately i cannot remember exactly how it was solved. Search for 100 percent disc use. I still cannot be sure mine will not reoccur, good luck with yours and don't stop with the first solution you find
Just checked and it goes to the AVG download page for me
I don't find it complicated either, but many people do. I have looked at that link you provided and and all they are basically saying is don't pay for purely cleanup tools. This is or at least was when first posted here by the OP, free software that is a well known and a pretty good antivirus. The author on the link you refer to based his opinion on a test he did an absolute minimum of three years ago and a test done by a now defunct site eight years ago, which is a very long time when dealing with computers and software. On the face of it, it also doesn't cover windows 10 although I know it pretty much does, but a lot of people wont know that.
So I am sticking to, those who can do it themselves great and those who can't will find this a useful free tool. (edited)
Sure, although this gives you internet security as well, in case you think that’s beneficial.
once you install tuneup then click subscriptions and you get two options purchase or use code
then youll get the option to install antivirus (edited)
Free download and then enter the code as explained above in the post. Hope that helps.
if it was so easy, people wouldn't have a load of temp files and auto running programs and no one would bother making programs like this. even to someone who knows how to do this, it can be QUICKER and EASIER using this than faffing around going into various folders and deleting stuff. certainly it's easy to tell someone over the phone to download and install this and run 2 or 3 options than try and explain how to do it without tuneup
Impossible to say without examining the PC as there could be a number of reasons. Does he have an up to date anti virus product already installed? Scan for a virus first and then ensure you have an ad blocker installed on all browser programs (google how to do it) - ads running in the background can bring a PC to a halt.
Heat added
Wait ??? Are you suggesting that neither SSD nor Windows 10 need clean ups and are virus free ??
LOL
Put the drugs down and step away from the keyboard...
The following site (anrdoezrs.net) which the Get Deal Link forwards to is Blacklisted by uBlock Origin. I've downloaded the AVG TuneUp Free Version from AVG.com Installed it, entered the Code, and all's good for the next 2 years The link was also flagged as being "Suspicious" when running a check on the link, but may end up being nothing to be concerned about, but thought I'd mention it Seems to be something to do with HUKD Referral Link being placed in front of the actual AVG Url (edited)
Yeah could be - from my perspective I keep editing the get deal to point to avg url only. Anything you can fix here for us ? Thanks
It's an HUKD thing, so I doubt it ...
We've all had some of those ilk's in the past basically?, lol.
But it's cool. :-) (edited)
Crack Windows =P you know who u r
Only then install malwarebytes.
Scan. Install backup software. Run Ccleaner to lose temp / install files.
Ccleaner to remove old reg keys.
Backup system.
Never install windows again.
Never ever use a freaking tune up program.
Never use an all in one driver install program.
If you aren't playing where you shouldn't be AV's are useless.
Tune up programs do more harm than good.
Even installing a codec pack is bad.
Only install what you need when you need it.
Computers are just a tool and most people don't care how they work and do not want to spend time learning the detailed knowledge required to have any idea how to do the things you refer to. Software like this can help keep their PC working a little faster or better and is far less likely to mess it up they they would be.
yeah, and can dualboot osx as a hackintosh, and i have VM's of osx, a few versions of linux, and win7, xp and win98, and win 3.1 (i have something that runs on w3.1 via dosbox) that all run on it
Your brother either:
A) Bought an outdated laptop with horrible specs
B) Doesn't know how to maintain a computer properly and has a ton of garbage on it slowing it down in the background
