This book celebrates the most exciting period in the history of technology - the arrival of the home computer and home gaming console. YouTube's most successful purveyor of computer nostalgia brings those stories to print.
Remember what a wild frontier the early days of home gaming were? Manufacturers releasing new consoles at a breakneck pace; developers creating games that kept us up all night, then going bankrupt the next day; and what self-respecting kid didn't beg their parents for an Atari or a Nintendo? This explosion of computers, consoles, and games was genuinely unlike anything the tech world has seen before or since.

Why is it because you're interested in old consoles you're then considered …Why is it because you're interested in old consoles you're then considered a 'nerd' by the author.Nerd: a foolish or contemptible person who lacks social skills or is boringly studious.

That's his brand name (i.e. He's the Nostalgia Nerd). He's not calling YOU a nerd, chill.

Plus that description of "nerd" seems somewhat out of date, and single minded.

Do you have a definition for someone who comments on something without having any clue about what they're trying to criticise?

Culture changes quicker than dictionaries. I find the Urban Dictionary much more lucid.

Well considering the depth his mini documentaries go through on subject like the Mega Drive or Amiga (both weighing in around the 30-40 min mark) they're incredibly studious to the extent some may find it boring. Personally I've rewatched them a few times.

His Virtuality one the other week was great.

Decent book. Gaming is pretty socially acceptable these days. If you left it on the coffee table then a good number of under 40 guests would pick it up.

I really enjoyed this book and at that price it's well worth it

Voted hot as it's a good read and a good price, but with a caveat - some of the reviews are in very small black text on dark green/blue background, so may be hard to read if your eyesight is not so good.... no idea why they went with those colours. (edited)

The Mega Drive & Master System mini documentaries are really great and good ones to start with. The Atari Jaguar one is really interesting too.
