sorted byMine came with these in the box and yes they will fit a battery (The Nut and bolt of course)
I've revived several "dead" batteries with the reconditioning setting. Excellent charger albeit expensive.
These aren't discounted often, so heated.

But it shows AGM led light in the picture for start stop batteries (edited)
Obviously the Ultimate Speed 2.8amps is nearly half of the CTEK but I think most people using these are trickling (including my neighbour using 2 for his motorbikes) so you don't really need the extra amps.
Oh and if you chop the clips off the end of the CTEK you can wire it to a cigar lighter plug which allows you to charge your vehicle through a cigar lighter socket (if it is constantly live) This I think is an accessory you can actually buy but it's cheaper to make one yourself.
Voted hot for the price
For this reason I have preferred to use the opti-mate range which are silent in use and otherwise identical (just less well distributed in the UK).
Secondly watch the cables. If the connectors start to get damp and corrode the resistance increases to the point where the charger can no longer reliably detect the battery condition. Mainly an issue if you have to have extension cables outside.
Finally most modern cars are coming with stop/start and have their own electronic battery state tracking equipment - when wiring in an external charger you should only use it if you believe the battery charge is low (deep cycle batteries tend to be left 85% charged, not full like lead acid) and most importantly you have to charge the battery through the monitor equipment, not bypass it. If you directly connected to the battery itself the tracking device gets confused and you will have issues with stop/start and many other stuff too.
One other point.. these are not fast chargers. They can take 24-48 hours to recharge a flat battery! Though they can do it they are designed for maintenance charging, i.e. trickle charging.

There are others. (edited)
I’ve had one for years and this is the best price I’ve seen.
These units can recondition batteries and revive batteries.
I have a Fiesta with a Stop/Start Battery. (edited)
Hi, what do you mean by plug lead? (Sorry) I was hoping it would come with it?
I have a weekend car and would hope to keep 2 a rings permanently connected to the battery and then connect the charger as and when... is this possible? (Does it come with it?)

I’ve been using for a stop start Audi A3 for 6 years on the AGM setting and it works fine. I’ve also been using the traffic light connector for that time on 2 cars with great success. Obviously ymmv.
Yeah I’ve been using it for years on our A3 stop start and it’s been great
(would be happier if they'd use a microswitch).
It's a 'bubble' switch - they just wear out. I drilled a small hole in the casing, screwed on a momentary push button and just soldered some wire to the contacts on the board. Fairly easy to do but of course mains voltage etc be careful. To my mind either they use a 'proper' switch or just get the darn thing to remember the mode (so you don't need to press it each time you power on). It annoyed me enough to spend 20mins fixing it anyway
To be fair a £20 charger from Halfords would have done the job for you. These smart chargers are best suited to maintenance and trickle charging, that's what you're paying for.
DOA is unfortunate..
The short journeys do kill it, no question. Takes about five minutes running to recharge the capacity used to start the car, basically.
Obviously the electrical power generated by the alternator and available to charge the battery is more or less independent of rpm or engine activity level, minus anything you use for lights, heaters, etc. The regulator on the alternator sees to that.
Ah. I see! Do those rings fit a car battery? :/ Looks small haha! Thanks
Tommy / All, please note the leads with the ring that fit over the battery (tighten the hell out of it afterwards) there are TWO sizes, check & measure your battery lugs to verify it will fit. ..I have one to go on my smart car.
NB the regular "quick connector" is better than the "traffic light led version" which many deem flawed) in terms of accuracy, the other one is also cheaper.
For my smart car it's great, as the battery is hidden via a lump of styrene so I connected & fed the cable to the carpet slit ..very convenient.
For a mercedes with the battery under the floor with a metal cover in the way it's not so hot, but no real bother.
NB this price is what i'd pay for this unit anyway, the deal isn't so hot to me, but the brand CTEK is very good.
Finally: NO SNOWFLAKE setting so DON'T use for a stop start battery! (edited)
& with regards to the traffic light variant, LOTS of reports as to its fallibility regardless, if you have one i'd still keep a battery voltage tester in the cig lighter its going to give a better indicator.
I use the cheaper version, clip & go ..happy with that
My garage (agricultural engineers) also cite concern about hooking up a regular charger to a dedicated stop start battery.
Even made it a smile.amazon link, legend. (edited)
Couldn't agree more, money well spent
