You neef to get wifi extender with ethernet plug. And plug the hard drive to it.
The harddrive dose not have built in wifi

Mixed reviews, how can one person say it’s no good for night time vision, another says it’s great ?
I purchased a stand alone camera which doesn’t have a hard drive, camera is class App is rubbish, so need a system like this with a hard drive.

Your getting the best camera swann sells after there 4k camera. Night vision is good and clear. Its hard to judge a reviews as quality depends on peoples opinions. You have to go for the specs

Seriously rubbish software on the DVR, and the iPhone app was appalling. Don’t think it’s been updated for years. Very laggy from mobile phone access.

Camera quality was great though but really let down by interface. Amazon did a deal for 4 5mp cameras and dvr for £200, but ended up sending all back.

Also what was quite worrying was I got a brand new sealed and unopened box, but it already had someone’s details inputted and their recordings!!! There’s an official method for when you forget the password, so I did that and found the previous owners details and password! So not so new stock from Swann!

A lot of the time its because they put the camera at an angle that is too close to the wall, so the infrared hits the wall and bounces back blinding the camera.

I quite enjoy installing so it should be ok, does it need the data cable running from the camera into the modem or a range extender ?

I currently have an older Swann system, which needed to be upgraded

I've had mine for over a year now, the update that went on yesterday has killed one of my channels, I've emailed Swann and surprise surprise they've no idea how to fix it, all the other cameras work really well

What have they updated?

I had not been out to the main unit for some time, as I remotely view everything, but went into the garage and noticed there's was an update so I installed it, the only thing I noticed different was the menu and you can now see the sensitivity of the cameras now

I didn't inform me via the app that there was a software update

I'm torn between this and an annke set up. I get the impression swann isn't that great in terms of customer care or app. Some of the Annke ones to a novice like me seem very well spec'd for the money. Anyone any views or advise? Really all I want is a reliable clear 2-4 camera set up with a hard drive that can be linked to a wifi repeater and that can be viewed either at home on a tv or monitor and by an app. (edited)

I was not given a choice on the return form or on the website so I presume since the returns help talks of credit taking 14 days to happen after they receive the item back, that is what will happen.

To be honest I am in two minds whether to ask them to replace the cctv or just take the refund and try something else.
Their tech support confirmed they no longer support Internet Explorer or any browser come to that.

My existing cctv is a Hikvision 960 lines analogue system. The two reasons I want to upgrade are the heat sensors and the increased image resolution.

Are Swann the only cameras that fit the bill ?

For the price. You would not find anything close to the quality of this system.
I fitted mine over a week ago. And its great. No issues at all and can ready any near by number plate. If your willing to spend more than you should get another hikvision .
