If you have Now tv then Roku will have everything in one place and a much better UI. Firestick allows you to sideload apps because it's android based, if you watch everything legally then Roku is better. If not...

Only problem is that your phone is already doing this so introducing this device isn't changing things.

    Roku stick or this?

Wondering the same thing. I bought an Roku streaming stick + at the weekend but not opened it yet. It was an impulse purchase due to lower cost but I'm thinking I don't need so many streaming devices. The UI looks a bit basic but while Fire TV looks better, Amazon promote their own products a bit too much. I have Apple TV, second gen Fire TV stick and NOW TV. Too many!

Main TV is 2018 LG OLED bought this year which has most apps but lacks Airplay (despite having same processor as 2019 models). It also doesn't have Apple TV+ or Britbox. I've configured my old 4th gen Apple TV for US TV for Hulu and was debating to buy a second Apple TV for UK streaming as this has all the apps I want. I've also been trying Shield TV over the last few weeks which is fast and smooth but lacks many apps. deally I'd like one device but think I will need at least two to separate US and UK streaming services as LG are slow to release apps.

How much more cheaper is it likely to be on Black Friday?

Not a huge amount. However, I already have a 4k myself. The person I am considering it for might well prefer something else for similar money.

Bitter experience has taught me to ask, rather than assume the someone else will want the same thing as I might.

    YMMV

Just a trick but if you add two to basket you can choose installments. Then remove one and can still click installments, so buying at £6 per month - just for those that want to!

I see the Amazon Firestick as way more of a specialist audience device than people think. Unless you want to run Kodi or are heavily invested in lots of areas of the Amazon ecosystem, choosing Roku is a no-brainer IMO. Especially for the same price.

Apple TV's can have multiple apps from multiple countries on.

Mine has DAZN,NBC Sports and Disney Plus alongside all the UK apps so Britbox, iPlayer etc and works fine.

Just add another user on the device to whichever country you want and then login and reboot and your be good to go.

Amazing find. I wish we had more of the 4K Fire Sticks even if we don’t use 4K, the faster CPU makes them run much smoother than the older regular ones - some of ours seem to take a few seconds to wake and respond to commands (so you click twice and go too far).

It will have anything downloaded that you purchased from Amazon in the cloud but you will have to do all the setup manually.

With your IPTV if it's username and password based then just install the app of your choice and fill in information. If it's MAC based firstly don't renew a MAC sub always go username and password. You then your your 1st gen MAC address and the serial on STBemu app. You then need to make it the same on the 4K stick and hope it works.

Never get MAC based subs - pointless and too restricitve.

Try chatting to someone else, some will do it, some go the return refund route, which is just so insanely ridiculous for a small (or even any) price change. If I get asked to return something over a price drop, I tell them how disgracefully wasteful and bad for the environment it is to return something just to re-buy and deliver the exact same thing over a nominal sum of money i.e. two wasted journeys, aside from that I can't imagine how all these additional returns aren't wasting Amazon a lot of money either

Large companies have such dumb policies sometimes
