LG’s B9 combines 4K HDR cinema screen design with advanced AI to further enhance both picture and sound. Perfect Colour on Perfect Black ensures real-world colour and contrast, while Dolby Atmos sound unites with Dolby Vision HDR for a cinematic experience. Impeccable 4K OLED Screen
Organic LED tech fuses with 4K resolution for superior contrast, colour and clarity. OLED pixels are self-lighting, meaning that they can switch on-and-off individually, for the deepest blacks and super-bright whites. Compared to regular LED screens, LG's panel adds an extra white sub-pixel, delivering ultra-fine gradation and a true-to-life colour palette.

4K Cinema HDR with Dolby Vision
HDR deepens your view and shows shades previously unseen in home entertainment. Expanding light, dark and every colour in between to extraordinary new levels, this model's picture gets closer to real life. LG's 4K Cinema HDR supports multiple HDR formats including Dolby Vision, Advanced HDR by Technicolor and HDR10 Pro.

4K Ultra High Definition
This 55” screen has four times the number of pixels than 1080p Full HD TVs, delivering stunning realism, natural motion and incredible detail.

Features:

Perfect Colour on Perfect Black: thanks to the OLED screen's self emitting pixels, colour representation is lifelike and wide-ranging, on a background of perfect blacks and rich detail, even in dark shades.

Alpha 7 Gen 2 Processor: The second generation intelligent processor is optimised for a premium OLED picture of exceptional clarity and brightness, whatever you’re watching.

Dolby Atmos Sound: immersive Dolby Atmos places sound within three dimensions for an enveloping soundscape, with you at the centre. Coupled with Dolby Vision HDR, it's a fully cinematic experience.

Thinq AI: bringing the intelligence and convenience of voice interaction to the living room, this Thinq AI TV can listen, think and respond to your questions.

4K High Frame Rate via HDMI: With full HDMI 2.1 compatibility, this LG TV can handle High Frame Rates for smoother motion, so even the most frantic sporting action is crisp and blur-free.

webOS Smart Platform
LG’s award-winning webOS platform revolutionises how you experience your entertainment. With simple and intuitive content discovery and switching, there’s more entertainment available than ever before. You can stream Sky Movies or Sports through NOW TV, 4K UHD content through Netflix or Amazon Prime Video, the latest movies and TV from Google Play and TalkTalk TV stores, and music from Spotify or YouTube.*

Advanced Voice Control & Smart Compatibility
This Thinq AI TV has the Google Assistant and Alexa built in, so you can get answers to questions while you're watching TV. You can also control compatible smart devices, and check your Google photos or Google Calendar on the TV screen (Google sign-in required). My parents bought an LG 55EC930V in 2015 I think. Still going strong. So they have had their panel for 4 years. I just did the screen burn test with some video from youtube. I noticed there is a ever so faint burn/retention under certain colours like red in the top right corner but its soo faint you would not notice is with regular viewing.

Overall the picture is still sublime. The blacks are beautiful. They watch around 6+hours daily. The reason for the slight logo retention is due to them being massive cricket fans and watching long matches. However for the regular user I couldnt see this being a problem. Their TV is one of the first to come out so I would imagine this issue to have improved on newer sets.

They have no idea about screen burn and are pensioners. If I bought one I would probably be more careful. However, all I tend to watch are tv shows, movies and random television. I much like many people out there would probably not cause screen burn with day to day watching. (edited)

Screen burn doesn't occur that often.

Where? I only see 7 'used' B9s on there, none listed as having burn in?

Why? Not sure I can afford the extra £200. Worth it??

Because it's a much better image. OLED is something to behold. I am only helping, sort of.

Just switched from Oled to Qled.

Firstly, Oled picture absolutely knocks the socks of Qled but after have 2 replacment Oled screens due to image retention/screen burn I decided Oled simply isn't worth the hassle.

I had an Engineer call (on 3 occasions) to evaluate the issue on the Oled panel, each time he called he accessed the "hidden" menu and was able to deduce the TV (Oled) had been used for an average of 6.5 hours per day. Not sure if that is high or low in terms of 'heavy usage' but the Engineer mentioned it was around average for a TV in a family environment.

Personally, Oled is by far the best picture quality, at consumer level, you will find on a TV however, under the wrong conditions they will suffer screen burn; this is fact.

I don't believe we're a million years away from having the image quality of Oled without the inherent issues so I've decided to settle for a slight drop in quality while TV manufactures perfect the technology.

I've seen many arguments around Oled image retention/screen burn, and there is a reason that it's not covered under warranty, I just want to share my experience.

You pay your money, you make your choice.

Heat given for the price btw. (edited)

Hahahahaha don’t leave a static image on your screen for hours on end day after day! Tv has Pixel refresh software built in to help with this. Do some research online. I have the C9 and it’s the best set I’ve ever owned.

Ours had the screen replaced under Curry’s warranty, for horrendous burn-in. Have allowed cobwebs to slowly take over the htpc in the lounge, as it’s clear this technology isn’t suitable for its use, which is a shame.
Forced to the bedroom, to use the htpc in there, as it’s hooked up to a good old lcd.

Drama queens are here! I had a 55B6 for 3 years which was used continuously watching sport, films and my boys playing PlayStation, no element of burn in at all.
The TV developed a panel defect and I topped up the settlement to get a 65C9 and wow, what a telly.
The morale is, look after the TV and it won't be an issue, turn off when not in use.
Once you go OLED, it's difficult to return to LCD. (edited)

Also, who buys an OLED panel to game on, it wasn't designed for that in the first place. Get an IP/high refresh rate/low input lag monitor if that's the main goal.

What a silly comment. Plenty of people buy OLED to game on and LG know it.

For those people being panically afraid of LG OLED burn-ins. LG have increased sub-pixel size in comparison for 2017 and 2018 and 2019OLED panels. Difference below:

Sub-pixel size comparison for 2017 vs 2018 panels
    Green : + 25% ,
    Red : + 60% ,
    Blue : something like +10% ,
    White : +17%

As red pixel burn-in is the most visible one, they have increase the size of red sub-pixel by around 60% on 2018 panels.

I could not find 2018 and 2019 OLED panel sub-pixel calculated comparison, but it is visible, that 2019 sub-pixels size has been increased as well meaning that B9 has better pixel/panel longevity than B8. Majority of burn-in problems are being reported by 6 series (B6, C6 and E6). In terms of burn-in reports, we would need to consider one main point of when B6s and B9s were release and for how long they have been used for; B9s are recent series. However from sub-pixel size increase it is visible, that LG have taken into consideration burn-in problems on each new OLED series.

That’s not acceptable, you should take it up with the retailer and don’t let them push you to LG. If it has died in the first 12 months regardless of screen burn or not then they should look to get it sorted for you. A month without your TV is not acceptable. Good luck

Cheers mate. Apparently this is normal, all tv manufacturers are responsible for first 12 months, after this the retailer can then handle it. I was told the same in Currys when looking at new TVs this weekend so it’s not just Richersounds.
In fact Richersounds have been great although they can’t do anything, but I’m currently arguing with LG. The board in my tv has gone (flashing red light 3 times when switched on but nothing happens). Burn in will be a separate argument.

One thing I can confirm to all those interested though - I can confirm that the blacks on my screen right now..... are TRUE blacks!

Incorrect, the retailer is responsible although the warranty in the first 12 months is with LG it is RS who should ensure you receive the service you should expect for a device that fails in the first 12 months.

I would advise you complain to RS and explain it’s not acceptable from LG. If they offer no joy then sign up to AV forums and post a thread outlining your issues, ensure RS are mentioned. They have their CS manager active and he should react. Don’t accept this situation.

What kind of image was it that burnt in? Thanks

The Chrome search bar, and the outline of YouTube windows+buttons. Tried every trick to avoid; hidden Taskbar, Desktop icon, wallpaper on 60sec rotation and moving the browser window periodically around the screen (just resulted in lots of Chorme search bars). Also used the inbuilt screen saving tech...

    Samsung QLED q80r

Definitely not q80r, unless hou are in a very bright room. Done my research on q80r as one of the best for gaming before OLEDs, almost bought it until I went to have a look at it yesterday at Curry's. Next to each other was B9 and q80r, there is no comparrison in terms of colour depth, blacks aaaaand bloooming. Blooming is so visible on q80r, that I could not watch the tv.

Besides, did not see any difference between 55' B9 and C9, would definitelly go for B9.

No doubt the C9 is superior to Samsung Q series 70,80 and possibly 90 models but for the price and screen burn I've opted for Samsung. Stop gap for a few years until 8k purchase!

If the risk was anything to worry about, they wouldn't offer a 10 year warranty. The warranty is there to sway OLED buyers that hear about burn-in, nothing more.
