My parents bought an LG 55EC930V in 2015 I think. Still going strong. So they have had their panel for 4 years. I just did the screen burn test with some video from youtube. I noticed there is a ever so faint burn/retention under certain colours like red in the top right corner but its soo faint you would not notice is with regular viewing.
Overall the picture is still sublime. The blacks are beautiful. They watch around 6+hours daily. The reason for the slight logo retention is due to them being massive cricket fans and watching long matches. However for the regular user I couldnt see this being a problem. Their TV is one of the first to come out so I would imagine this issue to have improved on newer sets.
They have no idea about screen burn and are pensioners. If I bought one I would probably be more careful. However, all I tend to watch are tv shows, movies and random television. I much like many people out there would probably not cause screen burn with day to day watching. (edited)

Because it's a much better image. OLED is something to behold. I am only helping, sort of.
Firstly, Oled picture absolutely knocks the socks of Qled but after have 2 replacment Oled screens due to image retention/screen burn I decided Oled simply isn't worth the hassle.
I had an Engineer call (on 3 occasions) to evaluate the issue on the Oled panel, each time he called he accessed the "hidden" menu and was able to deduce the TV (Oled) had been used for an average of 6.5 hours per day. Not sure if that is high or low in terms of 'heavy usage' but the Engineer mentioned it was around average for a TV in a family environment.
Personally, Oled is by far the best picture quality, at consumer level, you will find on a TV however, under the wrong conditions they will suffer screen burn; this is fact.
I don't believe we're a million years away from having the image quality of Oled without the inherent issues so I've decided to settle for a slight drop in quality while TV manufactures perfect the technology.
I've seen many arguments around Oled image retention/screen burn, and there is a reason that it's not covered under warranty, I just want to share my experience.
You pay your money, you make your choice.

Hahahahaha don’t leave a static image on your screen for hours on end day after day! Tv has Pixel refresh software built in to help with this. Do some research online. I have the C9 and it’s the best set I’ve ever owned.
Forced to the bedroom, to use the htpc in there, as it’s hooked up to a good old lcd.

Drama queens are here! I had a 55B6 for 3 years which was used continuously watching sport, films and my boys playing PlayStation, no element of burn in at all.
The TV developed a panel defect and I topped up the settlement to get a 65C9 and wow, what a telly.
The morale is, look after the TV and it won't be an issue, turn off when not in use.
Once you go OLED, it's difficult to return to LCD. (edited)

It doesn't have to be a static image. It could a static logo, or game HUD. They can be unavoidable to some.
The wallpaper activates on a static image. What if the image is mostly dynamic with static elements? Does that need science? (edited)
Unless you watch TV in a very bright room, cancel it and get the B9.
Clearly don't have this oled or b8 etc .If screen is left unattended it goes into screen saver mode with no onscreen retention images.
Samsung QLED q80r
Like sky news for example. This caused burn in on my b6.
My issue with oleds is that there is no mention anywhere at point of purchase of the limitations of oled. It's all about the positives, great picture quality, true blacks etc..
That's just a marketing strategy. LCD TV's dont burn-in, and if they do, it's extremely rare.
Sub-pixel size comparison for 2017 vs 2018 panels

As red pixel burn-in is the most visible one, they have increase the size of red sub-pixel by around 60% on 2018 panels.
I could not find 2018 and 2019 OLED panel sub-pixel calculated comparison, but it is visible, that 2019 sub-pixels size has been increased as well meaning that B9 has better pixel/panel longevity than B8. Majority of burn-in problems are being reported by 6 series (B6, C6 and E6). In terms of burn-in reports, we would need to consider one main point of when B6s and B9s were release and for how long they have been used for; B9s are recent series. However from sub-pixel size increase it is visible, that LG have taken into consideration burn-in problems on each new OLED series.

OLED looks fantastic. The new LG's have very low input lag. 120Hz panel... They partnered with NVIDIA for G-SYNC support. Why wouldn't you want to game on one? That's the question... Yes I know, burn-in..... (edited)
Cheers mate. Apparently this is normal, all tv manufacturers are responsible for first 12 months, after this the retailer can then handle it. I was told the same in Currys when looking at new TVs this weekend so it’s not just Richersounds.
In fact Richersounds have been great although they can’t do anything, but I’m currently arguing with LG. The board in my tv has gone (flashing red light 3 times when switched on but nothing happens). Burn in will be a separate argument.
One thing I can confirm to all those interested though - I can confirm that the blacks on my screen right now..... are TRUE blacks!
Incorrect, the retailer is responsible although the warranty in the first 12 months is with LG it is RS who should ensure you receive the service you should expect for a device that fails in the first 12 months.
I would advise you complain to RS and explain it’s not acceptable from LG. If they offer no joy then sign up to AV forums and post a thread outlining your issues, ensure RS are mentioned. They have their CS manager active and he should react. Don’t accept this situation.
The Chrome search bar, and the outline of YouTube windows+buttons. Tried every trick to avoid; hidden Taskbar, Desktop icon, wallpaper on 60sec rotation and moving the browser window periodically around the screen (just resulted in lots of Chorme search bars). Definitely not q80r, unless hou are in a very bright room. Done my research on q80r as one of the best for gaming before OLEDs, almost bought it until I went to have a look at it yesterday at Curry's. Next to each other was B9 and q80r, there is no comparrison in terms of colour depth, blacks aaaaand bloooming. Blooming is so visible on q80r, that I could not watch the tv.
Besides, did not see any difference between 55' B9 and C9, would definitelly go for B9.
In a nutshell, C9 has a better processor. In terms of picture quality, etc they both are almost in par and differences are not visible by eye. Would go for B9.
If the risk was anything to worry about, they wouldn't offer a 10 year warranty. The warranty is there to sway OLED buyers that hear about burn-in, nothing more.
With only chip changes, pricing structure should remain the same

Had my oled for just over 4 years now and do lots of gaming with the hud on screen for 6-8 hours at a time and have zero screen burn. I was worried about it when I first bought it and now don’t even think about it. These TVs are great and have no regrets buying one.
Just and FYI, Sony have better screen burn prevention built into there software.
