Come on at £99 for a 4gb ram phone this is a decent price even with SD429 . If battery is important more than gaming on a fancy screen. If your mainly into browsing it's got to be considered.

Snapdragon 429 should be ok with 4gb ram far better than 2gb that it is usually matched with

The RRP at £139 is not good but at £99 with fast charging and huge battery then it's a good deal

I'm still waiting on a refund for an empty box from October. I've chased them & chased them. Still no refund. I'll never order from Xiaomi direct again. It's not worth the risk of months & months chasing a refund

When you look at the cost of Samsung's and iPhones, for the price point, this phone will do just fine for your average consumer that browses the net and watches you tube.

I am currently writing this reply on my backup phone (a Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite), which I used from the end of 2018 to January this year. I've since upgraded to a Pocophone.

The Mi A2 Lite phone has a Snapdragon 625 processor, which is faster than the one in the Redmi 8, but still irritatingly slow.
There have been many times when I've pressed an app, waited several seconds and thought 'Maybe I didn't press it properly. I should try again...oh no. It's working now. It's just slow to open.'

This happens nearly every time and I would imagine, it will be the same or worse in the Redmi 8.
You might believe this won't bother you, but give it a year and you'll definitely be seeking a more powerful phone!

I phoned Xiaomi right away to report it then had to go through the process of sending proof , police report etc etc , it took months but Xiaomi eventually refunded me the full amount....very stressful so will never buy again, the post is Colllssimo ( French post office ) biggest thieves out there.

an idea to actually record the unboxing from the sealed parcel so we have the proof of this happening again? Then again we're all just so excited to get our hands on the new gadget we wouldn't bother!

How easy is it to obtain a crime number from French police?

That's what i keep telling them, its not DPD's fault if they never got the package, so why do I have to raise a Met police report (I don't speak French or live in France so well whats the point in me contacting the French police). Oy, they just keep saying the same thing to me, you'd think (And i did think they were a big company) that they would have a better costumer service, One of them even called me Peter (which isn't my name)...So annoying...The credit card company suspended the payment but the forms are a coming...I'll fill them in on my B'day the fun!....
