I don't think it's about making money at renewal, but more about pushing adoption of Azure over AWS. One of the big hurdles that MS face is that there are a lot more AWS developers/architects out there, which is a big factor in deciding which cloud platform to go to. If Microsoft can build an army of developers with Azure skills then that helps them.

As some one who uses Pluralsight, works in Azure and has used their training material for it, these courses are OK to give a background and probably a decent overview of how Azure hangs together.

However, a lot of it is out of date and has details that are missing or wrong (not unusual for MS courses, I'm sure a lot of people will have experienced themselves), and with something like Azure where things are added, changed or removed frequently, sometimes on a daily basis, you might struggle to apply what is in the material to real life use.

I've never really like Pluralsight content. usually it is not structured and it's all over the place. but free.. I can't complain. CBT nuggets is what you want though. a bit pricey. but definitely worth while.

Actually it did. Last time free azure courses were offered a load of people signed up without realising what it was. Even commented on the post with comments such as “great, what is it?”

There was that much exposure they stopped taking registrations so those with an actual desire to learn missed out.

I am already AWS certified and would definitely look at doing GCP rather than Azure as there is much higher demand for it especially amongst tech startups. Bro.

Not the original poster - It depends on industry. Public safety/Governmental is all pretty much azure that i'm aware of. I'm sure tech startups are all over the place but azure isn't going anywhere. I haven't heard of anyone wanting GCP skills but i've been approached for both AWS and Azure work about 50/50.

You need to create a free Pluralsight account if you haven’t already done so. No paid subscription is required in order to sign up for this Microsoft Azure deal.

This may be good. You still need a learning lab to practice and spin up free Azure instances.

Even though I have Linuxacademy I have added this.

I'm one of them and have used both. unfortunately its not as simple as that. they have separate uses and benefits. Azure doesn't have the reliability as aws has just yet. as their own teams app folks .But its good to see them encouraging people rather than the old MS of threatening customers into using it.

Their product must be really bad then because currently it is almost impossible to get a deployment slot, for want of a better word, anywhere inside Europe. A fact that has been well publicised recently.

Doesn't sound like "hardly anyone is using it" to me

That's not correct. It didn't ask for a payment option when I signed up. As ShaqArif1 mentioned this is about adoption. Any company offering top class training option are simply creating a large crowd following in the industy and those people will prefer them over competitors. Simple strategy proven by Cisco for many decades. Google has the same strategy. (edited)

I reached out to Pluralsight as I couldn't see the Azure freebies in my subscriptions, they replied with this link:

    help.pluralsight.com/hel…ure

For me, already having a paid account with Pluralsight, I had to log out, complete the form from the deal link, (or from their info page linked-to above) and that should be it.
I've done the above, but see no change yet, but thought I'd pass the info on to those who are having issues.
