I got this one from amazon before christmas, amazon.co.uk/Ala…7WY Its got all of the above functions plus it has a Battery backup, Radio, Different colour light settings (I use red before bed as it's easier on the eyes) It has some wakeup sounds too but I find them a little loud. The clock light can be fully turned off! (I hate having little light sources on at night!) It has a sunset simulation as well. Good for a quick read before bed with reducing light levels to help get you sleepy. Honestly, I found the lumie and Phillips ones too expensive for what they are. As for the effectiveness, it was brilliant all winter, I was dubious at first but I woke up feeling great most days and before my alarm went off on my phone.
Just as cheap but with a radio wakeup and a battery backup so no need to worry about power outages. If anyone still has those (edited)
Mains operated. It uses a very bright bulb that simply wouldn't function with batteries.
I have an older German sunrise alarm which is so much better functionally, but no longer made.
1. The sunrise feature is pre-set at 30 mins before alarm sounds, which IMHO is too long, as the light can wake you depending on your sleep pattern, then you are awake up to 30 mins before you need to be !! 10-15 mins is a better sunrise off-set
2. The snooze function is crazy - when snooze is used both alarm sound and light are turned off, then after snooze duration, both come back on instantly! So after being woken gently to a increasing light level, the room is plunged back into darkness, then 5 mins later, back into full brightness, no the best thought out system. My old German alarm keeps the sunrise light on, and only silences the alarm sound - much better solution
Agreed, these are very fiddly to use and 30 mins is too early - it's not exactly a subtle light to start with either ! When I used mine (don't anymore) I set the alarm on it for 15 minutes later than my get up time and used my Echo as the actual sound alarm
