Managed to get one of these last weekend, collected from Sainsburys.

It is very important to ensure ground is relatively flat otherwise pool will sag.

Pump works well, replacement filters are £7 for a pack of 2 from Amazon.

Factor in that you will also need a chlorine/bromine, and test strips, unless you plan to keep emptying water.

It really does take 4 hours+ to fill.

Also to warm things up, get a solar cover costing approx £60, and get the kids short wet suits, a lot cheaper than an electric pool heater.

Still good value for the fun it'll give.

Sunshine due end of next week! (edited)

Would a hairdryer, carefully balanced on the side of this, be strong enough to warm it up? Just asking for the mother-in-law!

Recently got this pool for the kids (a little cheaper from Argos 59.99) Great fun with the right weather but took ages to fill (even longer to empty) - You deffo need pool chemicals to keep the water clean. Filter a little under-powered but does the job If left on long enough. Good for the price and will deffo go up in price when the weather is nice again.....If your looking at getting it bite now as it will be out of stock when the weather comes back. Just be aware you will never get it back in the box so think about storing it when not in use....

It will take ages to fill, and unless you treat and filter properly it will be green within a couple of days.Kids are bored of it within a week as you can't really swim or dive it in, and it's a permanent drowning hazard for little ones (they can open the cover).Honestly, either just get a cheap paddling pool for splashing about in, or do it properly and get a hot tub.

You'll need chlorine granules to shock the water and then top up daily with granules or use tablets.

We're using the Clear Water stuff from The Range and it's brilliant, our water is crystal clear.

Chlorine granules to shock and then we have the 4 in 1 tablets in a float which last around 5 days each.

    Dont forget test strips.

You need to shock the water and then keep maintaining a daily dose.

Granules to shock and 4 in 1 tablets to maintain.

I would hazard a guess that you arent using enough tablets, not enough holes open on your float or you didnt shock the water initially.

I’m using chlorine tablets - one in the floater which is fully open and I dropped two on the floor - Ph level was 7.2 to 7.3. I also use Algaecide from Amazon (has a lot of good reviews) but I still struggle. I have tried filter pump for 10 hours but next day the water was green.Could you suggest shock product and 4 in 1 product and I will try the same. Thanks [Image] [Image]

Empty the water, that doesnt look saveable to me.

I use the clear water multifunction tablets and clear water stabilised chlorine granules from The Range.

    My routine:

Fill with water, add 5 heaped teaspoons of granules to warm water then slowly add to the pool and leave for 24 hours with the filter running.

Add 2 or 3 tablets to the floater and add to the pool with 2 slots open on the float (after the 24hr shock period). Just remove float when using the pool and add tablets every week or so when they're fully dissolved.

Do not throw the tablets directly into the pool.

Use test strips to determine chlorine levels, ph levels and adjust chemical levels up/down according to the size of the pool.

Thank you, water is being emptied at the moment. I will buy both clearwater products from The Range and when I fill the pool again (when the next heatwave comes) I will follow the above routine. I didn’t realise I had to put chemicals from day one. I started putting chloride etc after one week.

    Many thanks again.

Totally agree, it's great if you live in Spain or any other warm country but just a waste of time for the UK, I brought one a month ago exactly what you said above, wish I'd just brought a small one a lot quicker easier warmer and just as much fun

I must be doing mine wrong lol. I been getting up at 6am (when weather was great for a fortnight) from the north east and it’s usually freezing up here) then it takes 4/5 hours to completely fill. At the end of the day I empty the full lot and then put it on trampoline to dry. I fill with hot water. Didn’t realise you didn’t have to empty it for a few days if you have the filter etc 🙈I paid £39.99 for mine. But this is a steal because I think the filters are more than I paid for the pool

You'll be in for a bit of a shock on your next gas/ electricity bill I fear.

    Good deal. Ordered.

I'll take the pump out (as these are like Hens teeth at the mo) for my smaller pool and sell the pool on.

Might actually make the pump a little cheaper than normal price.

    Cheers OP.

We have the same pool, bought in Costco a few years back. Ours has been up since Easter with the same water and it's still crystal clear.

We have the standard grey cover that came with the pool, and I don't think a "solar" cover will gain you much. When the sun comes out anything sitting in the direct sunlight will warm up. With the cover you're stopping the water evaporating, and doing so you will prevent most of the heat loss.

I throw 4 chlorine tablets a week into a 3 quid floating dispenser from Amazon. First day I threw 2 bottles of basics thin bleach in there, but have otherwise done nothing. Test strips show the water is fine across the board.

As well as the cover, I have 2 solar heat panels, also by Intex, bought from Amazon. They're hooked up via the same pump as comes with the pool. Pump is on one of those cheap clock dial timers, and runs 8am - 7pm, which is the period the sun hits the panels. Panels are just lying on the patio next to the pool.

It does take a while to get the temperature up (a couple of days of nice sunshine), but last weekend our pool water was at 31C. No electric heat other than to run the pump. That's warmer than our local pool is, and the kids were in for about 4 hours without going blue.

Ditto! Additional extras were a decent ground sheet, chlorine tablets and float, tester strips, running the filter pump, and filling costs (which is doubled as you need to pay the equivelent for waste water as well). Used hot water to top-up before use, instead of water heater.
Top ring had a slow puncture, which resulted in loss of water overnight. Returned to argos after six weeks, and surprisingly was immediately given a full refund!
Make sure the ground is absolutely level, or it will sag to one side, and eventually spill its contents (including kids!!) (edited)

Last year I had the same water from end of May till September, shocked it theb dosed it with a floater and had the filter running about 12 hours a day. It never went green and the water was still fine when I emptied it out.

The kids loved it and went in after school some times and used it loads in the summer holidays. They want it up again now but with both them playing in the garden while we are both working from home (inside the house) it does not feel safe enough with a 4 and 7 year old :/ . Maybe I will break in a couple of weeks and move my desk and screen outside 😃 (edited)
