This smacks of a good will project by EA. Either to try and get gamers back on side, or Disney. I do find it hard to believe they won't try to further monetise the game after sale though.
I really hope it lives up to the potential because I loved the X-Wing/Tie Fighter games back in the day. But from the brief in cockpit gameplay shots we've seen it looks more like the more arcadey stuff from the Rogue Squadron games, which while good aren't a patch on the previous, more simmy games.
Still, as long as they don't completely mess it up it'll probably be worth it just for the VR experience.

It's because the full single player game is not huge and not a large amount of hours ( from what I have heard ). The core and object of the game is multi-player, therefore it is priced as such, that is why rrp is not at a premium price. zackariah19/06/2020 17:50

Thought that’s why he got sent on the mission to take out the Death Star. I mean, who’d volunteer for that?
(It’s also a wee nod to the Red Dwarf “smoke me a kipper” quote. 😁)- I think you really have to consider the level of content given the SRP of this title, I imagine the single player won't be much more than a tutorial for the multiplayer.
What they showed look good, but given it's EA I expect it to be relatively hollow after a few hours
