Can I return my mobile to Argos

I purchased a moto g7 play off Argos a month ago but I've changed my mind and want the Huawei P20 now instead from eBay

Can I return the moto g7 and what reason can I give?

So; in essence; you're just asking if you can lie to return a product? Of course you can. It's a moral decision only you can make though. After 30 days, would you not just be entitled to a repair or replacement?

Now, if they check the phone...

But it sounds like that doesn't matter. They are saying; effectively; due to C19 you have been unable to return your item to a store (due to closure) so they are giving people 30 days from whenever your local Argos store reopens/re-opened. Well, stores have only just re-opened? I believe you can return web-orders to stores also so I don't think that would alter things. You may not have been comfortable with sending it back via post due to all the disruption.

I would certainly try asking on livechat as that's how it sounds to me.

If you can't return it, sell it for cash on Facebook, or sell it to CeX. Otherwise you'll be back here asking how you got scammed.

no, because then they could say bring it in and they will send it away for repairs.

It's past the 30 days. Been about 40 days

40 days? So that's not a month ago! It usually helps if actual facts are submitted to us before anyone can help!

Don't think they'll let you after 30 days unless it was faulty

Not sure if I'm reading it correctly but their "returns" window was changed due to C19. The way I'm reading it, if you purchased anything from 1st March - you have up to 30 days to return your purchase from the store re-opening.

"Any purchases made from 1 March 2020, can be returned up to 30 days from our standalone stores reopening."

    argos.co.uk/hel…ds/

So, would this not cover your purchase also?

Yup sounds right to me. Good spot. Thank you

    Nothing ventured - nothing gained.

Worth a shot. No harm in asking and best of all - you don't need to be deceitful.

Argos extended their return policy because of covid19 and their standalone stores being closed at time as I have a faulty headset and when I phoned argos customer service in April...I was told once their shops were back open...they would be excepting returns/faulty goods...wouldn’t leave it too long to get it back though as probs change their policy again now with stores being opened(y)

Usual confusion over a trader's voluntary return policy and mandatory rejection / consumer legislation.

The trader's voluntary return extension applies to
    • The item should be unused, in its original packaging and in a resalable condition
but as OPs item has been used, OPs item does not qualify.

No other rejection / consumer legislation extensions are in place.

That's what I was thinking. I can just stick it on eBay but if I could return it somehow then I'll give it a try you see (edited)

Not used as it's just been sat in box for a month and I was waiting for my local Argos store to open to return it
