Very Account Buy Now Pay Later

Posted 18th Aug 2020
I received a letter with voucher code from very for £30 off buy now pay later but it doesn't work, I rang them and they said buy now pay later is not activated on my account and they can't activate it as it automatically activates and deactivates on its own.

Is there another way of activating it?

The letter and my account says I have £750 to spend. When I go to purchase something there's only an option to pay in full straight away.

I've not set up a direct debit and was wondering if that was the cause of it not activating?

I've just found the following information: Buy Now Pay Later for 6 months when you spend £50 or more (1 month = 28 days). Buy Now Pay Later for 12 months when you spend £300 or more (12 calendar months). So perhaps your issue may be due to: Buy Now Pay Later Subject to credit and account status. ?

Yeah I read that and thought that could be why but then reread the letter which says spend at least £60 and enter code at checkout which will automatically apply 12 months BNPL and £30 will be credited to your account by 8th October.

Maybe its a blessing in disguise :

APR representative variable (annual interest rate of 39.9% variable). A personalised credit limit, typically £1,000. You may be offered other promotional interest rates.

Only a problem if you don’t pay back before the interest free period is up...

Was £30 off at Very and I got an Alexa quite cheap as they had it reduced on top of the £30 saving. I had a similar issue to yourself (couldnt resolve) and my partners worked fine.

Not myself with the issue, but totally get where your coming from..

No I appreciate the help, sorry if I seemed like I didn't but I already searched for a contact email address and Web chat before I decided to ring but there isn't a Web chat and I couldn't find an email address.
    Thanks for the help though.

I suspected that may be the case as I only bought something from them when I first opened the account. Can usually find items cheaper elsewhere like you said.

Well its 12 months to pay and I'd pay it in full as soon as the £30 was credited like I did when first opening the account 5 months ago and got £50 voucher credit.

So your buy now pay later already worked then stopped so setting up direct debit will not make a difference. Use live chat or email to ask or ring back and ask to speak to finance department..

I did ring but got no information about why its not activated or of any way to activate it so the letter with code I got is useless.

Well it took me 5 attempts to get through to someone as the voice activated message system kept cutting me off (also sick of the 2 minutes of covid info you have to listen to when ringing any company atm)
Will just keep trying the code every few days until it runs out and if doesn't work I'll wait for a deal to pop up on here with the item I want.

You mean you have to buy something normally and pay straight away then buy pay later activates for future purchases?

The item I'm trying to buy is £150 (edited)

No to buy something on BNPL you have to choose that option when making the order.

I've just found the following information:
Buy Now Pay Later for 6 months when you spend £50 or more (1 month = 28 days). Buy Now Pay Later for 12 months when you spend £300 or more (12 calendar months). The availability of BNPL spend thresholds is subject to offer.

So perhaps this is the issue, as it does say Buy Now Pay Later Subject to credit and account status. (edited)

It's strange. I'd want to know why BNPL has been deactivated on my account

Unless they've changed the availability of BNPL (it doesn't seem like they have) they've always offered the First Credit Order Discount which is 20% or 10% for electronics. And voucher code websites almost always have a variety of First Credit Order codes.

    Voucher Cloud (website) :
    • £10 Back with First Credit Orders of £20 or More at Very
    • £25 Back with First Credit Orders Over £50 at Very

    Voucher Codes (website) :
    • Exclusive £30 Back on First Online Credit Orders of £60 (edited)
