Do Heinz still do Mustard Pickle?

Posted 5th Apr 2021
Suddenly had this craving for mustard pickle, you know the yellow jar stuff. This used to be a staple in our house growing up and I’ve just googled it thinking it must still be sold but can’t find it in any of the big supermarkets? Am I to believe this isn’t made anymore???? 🥲

Edit didn’t realise I could post a picture. This is what I was hoping they still made

I was always under the impression that “mustard pickle” is American for “piccalilli”. I make my own as I like bigger chunks and it sweeter than the supermarket stuff. I love it and use white wine or cider vinegar instead of normal vinegar. Last years batch is gone so need to do another one. But I definitely don’t think they’re all the same!

Heinz sell a mustard based Hot Dog Relish which seems to have the same ingredients as their original Mustard Pickle (different to Piccalilli). You can buy from Amazon or US food import shops.

I thought same as Bambibear that Mustard Pickle was just the US name for Piccalilli, maybe it's just the flavour of the Heinz brand you prefer, like people have their favourite brand of Mayo.

Possibly yes. Heinz used to do both mustard pickle and piccalilli so there was clearly a difference otherwise they wouldn’t have sold both. I can’t even describe the taste it was just perfection

Don't think this is the same stuff. Had the mild mustard stuff for years and it's slowly disappeared from shops. Last place I got it from was Tesco but they no longer stock it.

The Heinz mustard relish doesn’t taste anything like picallilli, it’s much more sweet and smooth and unfortunately Heinz has discontinued it, along with their tomato relish and ploughman’s relish, all 3 were staples in our larder and we’ve been buying all the old stock up at every B&M and pound shop we could find until now there’s nothing anywhere from what I can see. I think that Heinz mustard hotdog relish at the top of this thread looks like it’s similar so I’ll try it.

When I was younger, mum used to buy Barton’s piccalilli. It’s available in Iceland and Asda.
