Sell phone to Music Magpie

Does anyone have any experience of selling their phone to Music Magpie?
I'm planning to sell my phone to Music Magpie as they're offering a very good price compared to others (which is a bit too good to be true, tbh). But after reading some horrible reviews on MoneySavingExpert, I'm sceptic.

People have claimed Music Magpie had falsely claimed damages and reduced the price. Some said MM has lost their items or mixed up with others.

It will be very helpful if anyone can suggest what is the best way to deal with Music Magpie so as to avoid such cases.

If, and it's a big if, they decide it's not as you've stated, they will let you know if the price is reduced. But, if your device is as you state, you will get the price quoted. If they offer less, then they will give you the opportunity to refuse thier offer and they will return the item.

As with ALL sales, whether to the like of MM, eBay, Shpock etc, take a note of the IMEI number of the device before you send. Dial *#06# on you phone dial pad. Take a screenshot or photo of it.

yeah, just the phone but i put the cable in with my phone as i wasn't going to need it so i thought the new buyer may appreciate it

of course, that was only after seeking the opinion of the hukd community as we all know, i can't make complex decisions like that on my own

Thanks . Keeping a note of the IMEI number is a good idea.

Sold 3 iPhones without any issues as long as you are honest in the description you state the phone is in, also take some close up photos of the phones especially the screen buttons and charging port - good luck.

Sold many to them, 60% of time no issues, other 40% they have changed their offer citing various faults that I know categorical are not there. I take the risk when I have to because their prices are very good and when I have declined offers I've always received my device back as sent (without the reported issues) quite quickly so worth the gamble

I usually use CEX stores to avoid the risks highlighted - as you can wait about an hour for them to assess it and then dispute the grading in person; but with Covid I had to use MM the other month to sell an Apple Watch and bright star (through Amazon) to sell a phone, both were super easy and no disputes on valuation

“Good price”? I highly doubt that.

Never understood why people are happy letting their goods go for 25-40% less than the market value.

My ad on Gumtree over this weekend attracted 3 scum scammers wanting to 'use Gumtree delivery service' and my listing on Ebay solicited exactly one best offer - £80 less than the price offered Music Magpie.

I don't recall seeing anything about not sending box, charger etc. I included everything because that's me (and I have no further use for them).

i always send the phone in the original box as it makes the phone looks better and impression always counts
they used to ask that you send the phone charging cable but they stopped doing that now for some reason as I guess people like to keep the cables but I would have thought that selling the phone on, it would be better to sell the phone with its charging cable.

i put the cable in anyway as it makes it easier for them to test the phone when it arrives as they have the correct cable to hand? but maybe they chuck the cable out during the processing of the phone so sending the cable will only go in the bin?

yeah, i always fully charge the phone before i send it in. and of course, i switch the power off before i send it in. this way they should be able to test the phone immediately when they turn it on.

I'm sure they've already got thousands of cables so I doubt the original cable would end up with the original phone anyway so pointless sending it (edited)

be very sceptical, they are complete scammers, you will waste days of your life trying to sort through their lies and incompetence. save your sanity. ive had a nightmare trying to sell my pristine phone, they are con artists, i did all the tests and pictures before sending to them, trying to tell me the screen is burnt, utter bull crap, being a nightmare getting them to return it, had to lose 2 days work because of them. will be checking the IMEI and serial number when it arrives back

I have to say I've used them loads and never ever had any issues with them other than delays on postage but that was an issue with Royal Mail.
