HP Instant Ink program 15 free pages?

Hi, just bought an HP Instant Ink printer, I looked into it before buying and it's perfect for my needs at £1.99 per month, after the 12 month trials etc. But reading into this tonight, I read on the Which? website that HP now charge £0.99p for 15 pages whereas until late 2020 they were free.

I have a prepaid card in my box for £32 credit, which was printed in October 2019, and on the page where it outlines the cost, it says the 15 pages are Free. Do HP have to honour this?

TIA

I think the 99p for 15 pages is after the trial.
I'm currently on a 6 month trial and I think I get 50 pages a month during the trial.
You get emailed the info after sign up so if anything doesn't seem right contact HP.

Same, it was out of order when they tried to pull it, free ink for life doesn’t mean fee ink till we decide it’s not

I’ve been paying £1.99 a month for two years and not on a trial (edited)

Get in touch with them I have used instant ink for years when one of the cartridges dried out they sent me out a new one no problems

I have just been on my printer as well the hp app on apple and android.
On my printer there is a touch screen display so I am able to click the spanner icon then tools then clean printhead.
On iPad I can click on my printer then printer quality tools then clean printhead
Unfortunately on android I cannot find the same option
Alternatively you can manually clean them

It doesn't sound like there's anything to honour. It doesn't sound like you've had any contract with HP, or they've guaranteed something.

There was a class action suit about this - in America. It looks like the 15 free pages option has been removed:
    hp.com/uk-….ds

Also it's been reduced to 10 pages/month for 99p (edited)

Nowhere, do you still have an old leaflet for anything else with a price on it you could try and claim?

The point of everything has to rise at some point, at least by inflation or they are losing money and nothing would exist!

If the price was £0.00 for years it has now risen and may not rise again for a 5 years is it not similar free b/c £0.99 is so little?

I understand the frustration of buying something and you thought a service was free and was not.

This is a moot post, as I wouldn't benefit from this anyway. I'll be subscribing to the £1.99 deal, as I said, it's perfect for my needs. I initially thought that it meant the first 15 prints didn't count towards your 50, but I'm assuming it means that it is for people who don't subscribe to a plan, which would work out way more expensive in the long run.

Is that what causes the black to have white lines through ?
I read online it needs a nozzle clean or head clean, im still on the original ink cartridges, haven't inserted the instant ink ones yet so they wouldn't swap this one.
However if it resolves my issue i could insert the instant ink cartridges and start paying the 99p (edited)

Have you downloaded hp smart app I think you can access cleaning option from there it’s been a while since I’ve used the app so I can’t actually remember I’m not in at the moment so I can’t check. If you still need help let me know and I’ll check mine tomorrow for you

It used to be they had a free plan that has now become the lowest tiered plan (pretty much). You could print 15 pages per month for free. HP emailed out a while ago to say they would be discontinuing the free tier and moving everyone to the now bottom tier which was the same except that you could carry over unused pages at the end of the month instead of them expiring and got the pleasure of paying £0.99 a month.

There was some kind of rise up against them I assume as before I had a chance to really find out what I was going to do with it, another email followed to say the free tier would continue if you were already on it. I presume changing a free for life to pay for life was not cutting it in legal terms.

Essentially, those who were on the free tier can keep this until the printer breaks or until you change to another tier. It was always the case that as soon as you moved to a higher tier, the free one was done for you.

If the box does say 6 months free, I would however contact HP customer support (with a photo of the box perhaps) and kick up a fuss. They have always been helpful for me (in particular the live chat).

To be honest, even at 99p a month for 15 pages I would still have continued. Ink cartridges cost so much compared to the subscription (if printing in colour especially) with the added bonus that if you don't print for a while and find they have dried up, a quick email to HP and another set will be with you in a few days.

    Good luck (edited)

I was looking at the number of pages that the XL cartridge will print. Noticed that the cartridges will print up to 300 pages each i.e. 600 pages. Now even at 100 pages per month plan it will cost me £27 but the cartridges are around £50. Something does not add up buying cartridges given the massive hike in price. HP is pushing everyone to use InstantInk.
