Argos online Gift card problems!
Please bear with me - a bit of a long story here -
Was given an Argos £100 gift card from work approx a year ago, which i received via my work email as a 20 digit number & pin, so in essence an online gift card that expires in a few days time - say on 13-Dec-2021.
Now a couple of days ago tried using the voucher before it expires to order a ring from argos costing £99.99 plus delivery charge of £3.95 and everything went through okay ie used the £100 argos gift voucher and then paid £3.95 (the postage) using my visa card and delivery should have been tomorrow (10 Dec 2021) and as i didnt receive any more info re tomorrow's delivery apart from the first email confirming the order i decided to sign into my argos.co.uk account to see what going on and to my suprise the order was cancelled.
And as per these things the email they sent about the cancelation was in my spam folder and investigating via their help section, orders can be cancelled due to stock etc, but checking on the item page the item is still available for home delivery and in the right ring size too - so cldnt understand why the order was cancelled.
So to cut a long story short - i tried ordering the same ring again today and this time even though the argos gift card is accepted within the payments page and payment of £3.95 is taken and showing as pending in the visa card account, the transaction failed with the message -
Sorry, but we had a problem processing your order.
You can try another payment type or visit your nearest store.
I then tried to buy another different item after that last transaction failed, valued at £99.99 and the same thing happened again - ie even though the argos gift card is accepted within the payments page and payment of £3.95 is then shown as pending in the visa card account, the transaction again failed with the same message -
Sorry, but we had a problem processing your order.

I then again tried to buy yet another different item after that last 2 transactions failed, and again valued at £99.99 and the same thing happened again - ie even though the argos gift card is accepted within the payments page and payment of £3.95 is then shown as pending in the visa card (a different visa debit card this time) account the transaction again failed and again with the same message -

So to me it seems clear that Argos doesnt want me to use the gift card as they want it to expire in a few days time!
Has anyone has similar problems or any advice as to how to deal with this issue apart from saying go to an Argos store etc as i work from home everyday and dont have time to go to an Argos store and so need to use my gift card online?
Also anytime i check the gift card balance using the below link, it showed up as valid and value £100 -

sorted byI'm just stating that you can use it in-store because you said it wasn't possible.

I've used an online gift card in store
Maybe try contacting them earlier before they close for the day?
That's what I would do eventually (edited)
You should be able to call them or use the live chat feature during the day tomorrow (edited)
no, the 3rd time i used a diferent card and also each time the £3.94 is reserved and showing as pending in the bank accounts, so not a problem with the visa debit cards.
good advice,
but contacting them @7:30pm when chat is i believe available 24hrs and they publuish that you can call them between 8am and 8pm. and i called them @7:45pm shldnt be a problem. (edited)
I would just go in store if you can
i work from home and my partner is in the vulnerable list and so not safe to go to an argos store.
also its an online gift card and not a store gift card and as far as i know a store gift card can not be used online and so i believe the an online gift card can not be used in store.
yes i did try chat and didnt get anywhere with that too -
i started the chat at 7:30pm and after entering detail the chat kept saying 7mins to an adviser until past 8pm (when they close) and surprising an adviser came online and asked how they can help and after explaining everything - they said please hold whilst we put you through to the right department and i got the circle thing until i was disconnected by them after 8:30pm.
and ask for calling them - i tried that too at the same time as i was waiting for them to connect me to a chat adviser and held in a call queue and was tehn promptly just cut off at precisely 8pm, as that they are only available via phone from 8am to 8pm.
good to know that but as already explained -

yep the gift card starts with 10000 and i have my 4 digit pin which i have tried using numerous times.
it's your bank and me saying to them how can it be my bank when the money (ie the £3.94 that represented the postage) was taken out of my account and then the £3.94 refunded the next day, which shows that the transaction went through according to my bank and so you cant say it a bank not allowing the transaction problem.
to
- it's your email address - and me saying to them, what does my email address with argos have to do with using an online gift card and whats wrong in having more than one email address, many ppl do have multiple email addresses - i didnt want to use my work email address when creating an argos account and then forever get spam to my official work email address etc etc.
i then had to end the call out of frustration and then asked my partner to create a brand new argos account and through that new argos account we were able to again use the gift card to buy some earings to be delivered the same day (ie today 10Dec2021).
so waiting to get the item delivered (between 7pm & 10pm) before i say 'fait accompli'.
