Amazon return - Pick Up by Hermes?

Posted 23rd Dec 2021
I requested a return and pick up by Hermes. It's meant to be next business day which was yesterday. But no pick up. I have a tracking number and status is just "Pick up requested". They only give 8am - 8pm as pick up time.

If you had a pick up and checked tracking what were the statuses you got?

Maybe they are too busy and my return got buried somewhere. I'm thinking I should've just taken the return to a shop or wherever.

No experience with Hemes pickup as usually select any RM / PO option for returns as at least that option provides a freebie Proof of Posting with weight of parcel, where the weight detail may be critical for parcels that may be "interfered with" prior to recipient acceptance of return.

I have a friend who works for Hermes and he tells me that drivers have the option when they arrange a pick up and can change this as needed, they aren’t paid as much for picking up so they tend to not priorities it. So what I learnt from that is they will turn up when they want! Sorry it doesn’t help much, but as another OP said, arranging the return by other means is probably your only guarantee.

For small items, I use the local Amazon locker. For larger stuff, Royal Mail. Anything to avoid Hermes.

Amazon CS arranged a pickup for me and they said it would be within 48 hours even though the return page mentions next day (edited)

    How did you resolve it?

Waited four days then took it to a post office and sent via parcel force… then had to claim back £30. It was a shark hoover that packed up. They don’t offer RM pick up for me (edited)

Hermes 'lost' a 10inch tablet - I handed it over in the original, unopened packaging and by mysterious magical powers by the time it got back to amazon it was an 'empty box'

I wouldnt recommend returning via hermes unless its an amount of money youre happy to chuck in the bin

If it;s anything like the Hermes lady who delivers round my way, she drives a golf and it's packed to the gills with delivery parcels.I can image her wanting to steer clear of a pick up until such a time as her deliveries are completed, so she doesn't have to re-arrange the contents of her car and unlikely to want to return to an area once there is space.
It doesn't help at all, but I always drop off at my local corner shop who do amazon/hermes drop offs.

I just do the Royal Mail QR code option and drop off at post office

I recall having issues with hermes and next time asking Amazon if I could use royal mail instead. You could try contacting Amazon customer services and see if they let you change the courier?

Dropped something off for Hermes at a local newsagent - and it just stayed there for weeks. Had to complain to Amazon to get a refund. #BoycottHermes

If it's expensive item, consider yourself lucky.

Would not trust Hermes to pick up an old turd, absolutely abysmal company!

"Pick up by Hermes" basically means you will need to sleep next to your door for the next 48 hours as they can turn up any time and they wont waste time waiting for you to open the door (edited)

I've been waiting for hermes to pick up my amazon return too and they haven't turned up

I checked the tracking number on hermes website and it comes up as invalid,so it would seem the request hasn't even gone through to them

Try on hermesworld site not myhermes. That's where mine is. Still on Collection Requested.

This could be the problem it not being a standard hermes collection code,

I've just requested a call back from amazon and they have changed the label to a royalmail one, they gave me the choice of taking it to a post office or having royalmail come collect it and bring a return label for it

I had the exact same thing over the summer. I just took it to a dop off point in a shop in the end. Irritating to offer it if it's so unreliable.

For me having to pay for parcel force. To be honest I was really on edge sending it Hermes anyway. My item was faulty. If you contact live help and tell them they should agree etc
