Revolut and non-UK subs like Netflix/YouTube Premium e.t.c..

I've just managed to (finally) open myself a Revolut account and I was wondering how people deal with their various non-UK based subs ?

Do you add your main virtual card as a payment method or is it better to use the number of the physical one ?

Ideally I want to set up a Pocket for all of my recurring payments as well so any hints or tips would be most welcome, thanks

Previously used PayPal -> Revolut for BEIN MENA with Dubai/Qatar VPN.

Couldn't get it to work this season though

As far as I'm aware, DAZN is notoriously hard to subscribe to. I think they're one of the sites that require a payment method registered in the country you're trying to subscribe from.

I did manage to subscribe to S Sports Plus via Turkey before Christmas though. I was about to link you to the thread detailing how I did it, but the mods have just removed the entire thread all because I edited the title to remove a discount code that was no longer valid.

The thread was up for over two weeks and is only now deemed "unsuitable" apparently.

Anyway, back to the thread topic. I think I'm going to use the Revolut account mainly for bill paying. I've read one too many stories about people having their accounts locked out of the blue and I can't risk that.

My Netflix turkey is on my main account. I use the virtual accounts for one off eg if my son is going to buy a game. It gives you a new card number each time so don't think would work on sub.

It was 10USD a month. At the time I was doing it, worked out about 7 to 8 quid a month.

Tried to sign up again there but now you need a middle Eastern or African phone number to register so it seems they've shut the loopholes.

I use a newly setup PayPal account that I've linked my revolut to. So I buy Philippines Spotify, its charged to PayPal and PayPal removed money from my revolut.

My turkey Netflix is directly linked to my physical card. I've had it for nearly 2yrs so the setup process and their checks were probably alot less than trying to do it now.
But it was the sign up to UK, register a phone ect. Let it time out and vpn to Turkey after. I used express vpn with their 10 days trial. That was the only 1 that could help me make the Spotify too.

Just looking at my account. It is set to a PH address I found in Google. The number linked is my UK mobile. I can't confirm it like it asks. No security code ever gets delivered. It just let's me click 'not now'. I've entered it seems a drivers license number too lol. Obviously off Google. And I've had it working since 2019. (edited)

Well BEIN apparently won the licence for the Turkish coverage from them for the 22/23 season, but as far as I understand, they've retained the rights for the football for a lot of other countries so it might be worth investigating down the line.

Thanks - I don't have much time to watch football but I do treat getting discounted media services from overseas as a form of sport!

Thanks. It does explain on the website that you can set up recurring payments for the pockets but I'm certainly starting to think that it's going to have to be the physical card number instead of the virtual one.

I pay for dazn via my Google pay? I honestly don't know how it got there as I originally signed up for trial via Germany. And somehow I pay the euro amount in pounds... 8.99 per month. So maybe can get or sideload the app and sign up via Google pay?

I also used to have bein and couldn't get it to work a few years ago.

Before that. Premier League plus from new Zealand was really good! (edited)

Its best not to use PayPal for such things,
    1) its expensive
    2) if you got PayPal credit it could mess your credit history with foreign address
    3) changing addresses isnt easy every time you need to buy a sub so monzo/ revolut are best imo (edited)

Well in a bit of an about face, I've ended up going with Starling. I stupidly mis-read a tweet from someone from there and thought that i'd be able to use their "Bill Manager" feature to handle my recurring debit card payments but apparently it's not possible.

It just seems weird that the only company that offers what I want is the one that isn't a full bank (Revolut) but the ones that are banks (Monzo & Starling) don't.

It's fine though. I think reading those various accounts of people having their accounts randomly frozen by Revolut as well probably pushed me towards Starling as well.

Is it easy to set up a turkey Netflix. I did a India YouTube a few years back and it has worked flawlessly.
    How much is it roughly?

Turkey Netflix is about £3-£5 depending on the lira. Spotify family PH is normally stable at £3.25 ish

Can you still sign up for spotify? I thought it had gone for some reason, although I got a 6 month amazon music thrown in with an echo recent;y so using that at the moment

I sorted this all before covid hit so October ish 2019. No idea if you can do it now. I'll keep it until they close my accounts

I do have 1 alot left on it. But the process to add to it is very cumbersome. I've got to 'buy' express vpn. Have the slot paying users account login. Change their address to my PH address and get the slot payer to accept emails and verify them throughout the whole thing. It's a right hassle (edited)
