The AnySharp knife sharpener gets almost any blunt knife sharp again in seconds, extending it's useful life, and making cutting easier and safer. Whether you're slicing meat, dicing vegetables, or carving the Sunday Roast, a sharp blade makes cutting effortless. AnySharp Knife Sharpener restores a super sharp cutting edge to blunt knife blades that have dulled with use. The unique, patented AnySharp Knife Sharpener uses tungsten carbide technology to extend the life of almost any knife. AnySharp works on virtually any steel knife, including expensive hardened steel knives and even serrated blades (like bread knives and hunting knives), making it unlike any knife sharpener, sharpening steel or sharpening stone youve ever used. - Hands free safety - Knife Edge Safety - Less chance of accidents No skill required anyone can get great results! The optimum angle to sharpen a good quality steel knife is 20 degrees. AnySharp is pre-set at 20 degrees to give a perfect edge every time. Getting a consistent angle with a sharpening stone is a skilled job, but AnySharp allows anyone to get professional results without any training at all. Once you have fixed the AnySharp to a work surface, you can sharpen knives easily and safely using just one hand. All you need to do is just gently draw the blade through the tungsten carbide sharpening edges, 3 or 4 times to restore a super sharp cutting edge.

Great for super cheap knives, but they will destroy your expensive ones.

    A little tip-
The tungsten carbide blades can be turned around once you find it hard to sharpen a knife, you can swap them side to side and back to front so you can use all 4 sides,

I’ve bought a steel, tried different angles, different directions, still blunt. Tried a whetstone, just ends a up watery mess. I think this is my last hope! unless anyone has a definitive guide to using a steel handy?!

A steel will never sharpen a knife if a new edge is required, you will need to use a whetstone until you create a burr.

A steel will keep a knife sharper for longer as over time the tip of the edge will bend and become misaligned. A steel fixes this.

    There's a good guide here reddit.com/r/s…ed/

Had one of these (AnySharp) for years. Sits in the drawer and every 3 months or so it gets pulled out, stuck to the wooden worktop and my favourite couple of knives get run through it 3 or 4 times. 2 minutes tops and my knives are always sharp. Years of sharpening and the knives are none the worse for it.
Why have a super expensive knife when it is this easy to sharpen a nice cheap one? (edited)

I wouldnt recommend this, its a knife edge stripper. Id use a fiskars knife sharpener because you can drop water onto the stone and it does a nice edge.

Don't buy these kind of knife sharpeners they will destroy your knives. They destroy the edge and in the medium to long term will ruin your knives.

The best sharpener is the one you'll actually use. Blunt knives are dangerous.

Not everyone has super expensive knives and if you do have expensive knives you’d be aware that this wouldn’t be suitable!

I agree that guns don’t kill people, people kill people. Blunt knives are dangerous - a blunt knife requires more pressure to use and can therefore slip. A sharp knife is smoother to cut with.

It's not the same. Knives are a necessity in life outside of warfare. Guns aren't. Only an Idiot could make a peacetime comparison.

Every time I see this sharpener come on offer I notice the same old comments i:e don’t use them on your best expensive knives they will mess them up but anyone who spends there money on a good quality knife should know how to sharpen it anyway and shouldn’t be looking at these in the 1st place I recently bought one for around the same price just to see what there like to use on some cheap old knives around my mums and they do sharpen knives and scissors well but I agree they are very harsh and shave too much metal away but are a great product for the intended market.

I would only use one of these for those Taylor’s Eyewitness knives that your sister bought you in a set one Christmas, just to make them reliable backups when you’ve got a lot of food on the go.

I bought this to bring some very dull knifes back to life. It worked well enough, but now lies at the back of a cupboard somewhere - with many other gadgets lol. I now use a steel to prevent them going to dull. It is best to never need something like this in the first place

A steel only helps maintain the edge between sharpening. No good if you haven't got a sharpening tool

I have 1000/3000 whetstone and must admit it's very therapeutic to sharpen all my decent knives. But, I do have a few backup chunky knives and would rather use something like this sharpener than waste my time and add wear to my whetstone. These knive sharpeners also can bring a damaged/chipped knife back to a point where you can finish off with a whetstone. Great deal. (edited)

These wont destroy anything if used correctly and are good for a quick touch up before use whilst further maintaining the edge with a wet stone and steel. The trick is not to apply to much pressure.

Exactly. Not too much pressure and just 2 or 3 runs through usually does it. You get a feel for it. I have a whetstone but have not used it for years now. This will not 'ruin your knives' if you use it correctly.

I'm lazy af and couldn't bother with whetstones, angles, grits and associated palaver. Got one of these when they came out many years ago and it's simply the easiest and best sharpener I've ever used. I don't have expensive knives, like I'm guessing 90% of people.

This is the perfect kitchen tool and I got the best feedback of all stocking fillers ever many Christmases ago.

A gun I imagine would maintain the same severity consistently.

No need to be sorry, its quite alright to have an opinion and its good to debate differing opinions.

Knifes that are blunt require sharpening or recycling. This is the part a a fool will skip & increase their chance of an accident. "Stupid is, what stupid does" as they say.
