Is this an IP ban?

3878128_1.jpgHi everyone

I was looking at Nintendo Switch controllers on Smyths toys over the weekend and I just went on the website to have another look at them, but got this error message

Does it mean I'm IP banned? Is there any way around it?

Thank you in advance for any helpful replies

    Are you using a VPN?
If not, have you tried using a VPN?

Try accessing it using your mobile data while not connected to wifi. If it connects, it could be something to do with your home IP. The reason I asked if you're using a VPN is that a lot of companies range ban VPN servers. And the reason I asked if you've tried using a VPN is that you could rule out it being an issue with your home IP (edited)

Yes its similar to how the DVSA firewall blocks you. ITs probably a temp IP ban.

Smythstoys works fine here. It does ask you to click the Captcha. Have you got something blocking google captcha ?

I was able to access the website on WiFi but not mobile data and now I can't access on both. Could it be other Voxi customers (the network I'm on)? I asked a friend to check and they're getting the same despite having never visited the website, they're also on Voxi

Yeah. Your mobile data IP is shared, so it's probably a temp range ban on your mobile IP. I'm not sure why it would also be blocked on your home WiFi IP, though. Is your WiFi home broadband or do you use a data sim in a dongle?

I think it's a VOXI thing. One of the other customers who share that IP address range may have done something to trigger the error, so their website is locking you all out. As for it not working on WiFi, the website may have also blocked your device MAC address too. It might also be worth deleting all cookies and trying again on WiFi to see if that resolves the problem.

If so do you know how long they typically last or is it different every time?I appreciate the help thank you

It's not unusual that a mobile data IP would be blocked. It's also not unusual that a public IP like a shopping center would be blocked. As Charlie suggested, it could also be that your phones MAC address is now blocked as a result of trying to connect on the same device which had a blocked data IP. I imagine if you get home and try it on your home WiFi that you won't have any issues. Clearing your cookies and cache before you try connecting on your phone again from a different IP is also good advice, and should prevent the same issue happening again if you try to connect on your phone from your home WiFi (edited)

If you connect via a different WiFi then you will get a different IP address.

Maybe they've had some dodgy orders done via the Shopping Centre WiFi so they have blocked it.

No, I'm more trying to figure this out why I am not able to access the website (on Chrome) but don't want to use VPN. Does this look like an IP ban would you say? I could access the website on other browsers like Edge for a minute and now I can't (edited)
