sorted byThe other canister in the kit as I suspected is basically a Redex type injector cleaner but with 300ml per 60-80 litres of fuel, about 10x more the quantity than Redex.
I think removing and cleaning the EGR valve, although a dirty job is probably much more beneficial for a restoration as 'good' diesel fuel has these additives anyway.
Ah well it only cost a bit more than a good pint of Guinness
Any good deals on quiet tyres?
when i had a motorbike it had carb and it struggled to run properly i used redex did nothing then i dumped seafoam and fixed it (edited)
Petrol it the title, so should imagine its for diesel.. but check at the counter before you take it (edited)
Snake oil ! Not for Vegan's then
Whatever it did, it did something as opposed to the snake oil you get with car additive products.
I was multitasking... Well trying too anyway.
I couldn't find out what this kit does, is it supposed to be an egr cleaner or another Redex type injector cleaner? I'm not a believer in injector cleaners myself and there are believers that they harm catalysts and DPF filters.
Might not even use this kit but it'll do for a present
You didn't!
With regards to petrol cars and Redex, Ive been using for many many years on both of our cars and never had issues with the catalysts. I'm a firm believer to put some in every other/3 tank full and especially even now that we have the new variety of petrol, the dreaded E10!
I normally stock up when its cheap at £2 a bottle.
E10 should be better at keeping things clean in theory. More alcohol no? I know it doesn't give very good mpg though. (edited)
I swear I did!. Even Dave from the pub said it was crazy! (edited)
The madness of modern society's obsession with online reviews and the relentless scams to exploit all of us, especially in areas where there is no scientific data to show if it works and hey the product is not not even on their website...
Guinness is good for you and smoking is sexy
Yeah Seafoam worked well with engines from yesteryear with carbs etc. but it's not for modern fuel injection engines. Yeah I'll check the sell by date before putting it into the new 5W-30 C2/C3 oil, this stuff is not cheap and to dump new oil is a sin.
TBH C3 oil has extra lubricants in it anyway so I'm not even sure if I'll put this QX stuff into the oil and there doesn't seem a problem to fix anyway but the can says it helps all the engine seals etc, they seem to be saying it can act like a head gasket sealer or something, but I'm not sure nor convinced...
But £5.99 for snake oil is a good bargain regardless
I do the same for my hybrid petrol since I bought 16k on clock. It’s 149k and still drives like new. The other thing I do is keep changing engine oil every 6 months or so.
Regarding oil changes, it depends how many miles you do and not the amount of time it is in the car. This fact has been laboratory proven and in America I believe there is a huge scam on oil changes with clueless customers being told they need oil changes every 3 or 6 months regardless of mileage.
Just did an oil, oil filter, air filter and put in a new rear engine mount today in a car I bought from an auction and OMG it does feel better but God knows how long the previous oil change was and the engine mount was completely gone. No more clangs, clunks or vibration all due to the busted mount. I hate people not looking after cars as they are expensive and useful products.
Also put the 300ml QX additive into the oil so I'll update if I notice any increase in mpg or anything but the new proper 5W-30 C2 oil could do this too.
