Hello everyone ,
What network have people on here used for data when holidaying in Turkey ? I know O2 still do EU roaming but Turkey isn’t included in the list of countries .
Secondly , Turkey entry requirements regarding covid is proof of vaccination or negative PCR or antigen tests . I’m opting for the antigen test as it’s much cheaper , around £19 per person . It will need to be done 48 hours before departure . If I test positive , will my travel insurance cover me for not being able to travel ?
Many thanks for any help and advice

On the insurance side of things, well it will insure you for what it lays out in the terms and conditions of the policy you paid for. (edited)
BiTaksi isn't supported in Antalya, only Instanbul and Ankara.
For tours I just use a local tour shop, they are all much of a much price wise, but will discount if you book all your trips in the same place at the same time. Some of them might maybe cheaper DIY'ing via Taxi depending upon where you staying. If you like Theme Parks/Waterparks, try The Land of Legends in Belek. Below was a receipt from Popeyes (Oct 21) for a box with drinks for 2 people for a whole 52.50 TL ~£2.75 in a theme park! Plenty of Youtube videos showing you around it also.

Another example of food prices in the park (in TL). (edited)
Anyone on the below. Randomly picked Side as your final destination.

Look at the Premier package at the below link, it covers anyone in party. This is really Rock Insurance who provides the insurance for alot of company packages like jet2holidayinsurance.

When we went istanbul in 2018, we used BiTaksi, they have an app and its really handy to use as it gives costs
Its their version of uber basically but i dont think the app accepts payment, we just gave cash based on the app (unless its changed now)
Cant comment on the sim as mainly relied on Wi-Fi most of the time but ask your hotel if they do wifi dongle which they will top up for certain amount of Data at watever their cost is (im only referring to this method as when we went Hurghada (egypt) they provided this which worked out to be cheaper than buying a sim only.. again no harm in asking though
I'm heading on the 29th April for 11 nights (From Belfast), though Side as still have alot I want to see and didn't get around it all in October, literally booked it again the week I came home lol.
You best booking while on resort, I paid around £20>£25 each (had booked 4 tours in the same place) for Land of Legends from Side (it's all the one ticket) and you are slightly closer to it than I was. Just happened to be watching a video this morning from Side and noticed a tour price list. Note they will price in Euro's then add a zero to make it Lira so 20 Euro for example is 200TL which is really ~£10. Although they didnt have a Land of Legends price up but did for your quad biking.

The park around the waterfall into the sea is lovely and quite near Lara. Also have a zipline down the river beside the little cafe place which was really cheap. Antalya Old town is also a must visit, you could get a taxi or Dolumus from Lara into it.
Can't really make it out, but a zipline is down the river.
Old Town. I didn't get to do the Harbour area in the Old Town, but will be this year lol.
I've Just got insurance thru insurefor.com/
Also, hold on with the PCR/Antigen there are rumours in a Fethiye Facebook group that there is to be an announcement very soon.
Re: Travel Insurance - if you test positive, it all depends on the insurance you have taken out - I had an annual policy which refused cover for Covid when the 'pandemic' was announced - so you need to contact your insurers and ask what their policy would be
I just used a tour shop opposite my hotel (is 3 of them!) tons of them around. Jet2 did tours also but they like triple the price. P.S. I would say it be more expensive for you as Side to Alanya took around an hour today, the park is between Side and Antalya in Belek (edited)
Turkish taxis... don't get me started. But I will start anyway... We were scammed twice, the second time we were fully prepared for it, tried to prevent it but they are so breathtakingly skilled. We used public transport after that with the exception of a taxi called by our hotels reception. In contrast with the flashy models that the scammers drive, the honest driver showed up in an old banger.
There are 2 things that are special about the scam: 1: The driver will tell you he can't drop you directly in front of your hotel due to 'road congestion'. He'll want to drop you at an awkward junction where a queue of irate drivers will form behind him during the drop-off - so you're under pressure to pay up and leave. 2: The actual scam involves incredibly slick in-front-of your eyes note swapping, worthy of the Magic Circle.
I'd get the tour company or hotel to organise any taxis. And the lack of any decent data roaming was a right pain too, it wasn't worth getting a SIM as we were only there (Istanbul) for a few days. All in all I'd give Turkey a pass next time, until its tourist authority gets a grip on some issues. (edited)
I think anything you flag down in the street or in the airport queue is risky. It could be that the official government sanctioned meter price is so low that they can't live on that. But it's infuriating nonetheless.
Mine was around £1100 for 2 , there are cheaper packages but I wanted a decent hotel hence the steeper price for 7 days
Yes, all one park. I booked it as a tour from Side and it was between £20>£25 each. Can't remember exately as had booked 4 tours together at the same place. This was in Oct 21. I'm away on the 29th April for 11 nights and could update if you wish? (Staying in Side) (edited)
From Side, 400 Lira for Land of Legends.
Few today from Alanya Castle and Harbour.
Forgot to add, passed a waterpark quite near you called Aquajoy, it looked pretty terrible from the outside.
Hi , thank you for your input .
I’ll stick with Turkcell , initially I thought it would be better to buy a SIM card from here .
I don’t suppose you know of any decent transfer / taxi companies in Antalya ?
I’ve been looking at travel insurance policies and they only cover the lead traveller in case of cancellation due to a positive test , how do I make it so that the rest of the people travelling are also covered ? Or is it better to take out separate policies ? (edited)
Refer again to every insurer is different - without seeing your policy, no one can tell you the way to cover the party!
Do You have personal experience of the service? I'm assuming iPhone 13 will work with this?
Travel insurance on comparethe meerkat tells you what’s included so check there 1st.
What are you gonna do about tours and aqua park? Are you off and how are you gonna book it??
My 1st time aswell
Oh yeah I’m defo off there as it’s in my bucket list. I’m staying antalya 20 mins from airport, Lara area.
I noticed if you buy tickets online now they are £26|£30 etc but I wondered do you buy them there for aqua and land of legends?
I’m also doing quad biking and scuba diving each day which il be booking there tho with tour
Thanks a lot for that. I have taken a screenshot. So helpful x
It’s my?1st time
I literally just booked my flights and accommodation , inclusive package , still looking at travel insurance and pcr / antigen tests , I’m thinking that it’s better to book everything like activities once I’m there . The Land of Legend park looks really fun I think I’ll definitely go for that
Thanks , I really hope so , I’m heading out there second week of May
Damn
Are these taxis the ones you flag down / wait outside airports or the ones you pre book ?
I was thinking of booking through a taxi company , figured it was safer
"Airalo" data eSim is fairly competitive if you have a phone that has eSim capacity.
Thats great. Im off around may, june time. Roughly how much are the best inclusive packages for?
Hi. Quick question… I’m off to turkey in may and looking to go to land of legends… I’m assuming the park is made up of the theme park and aqua park etc. and how much did you pay for admission? Thanks in advance
Sure, if you could would appreciate it. I’ll be staying in the alanya region
Do they sell them at airports or shops near resorts ? I’m going to Lara beach in Antalya
Wow looks amazing… just the wait for me now lol. Quick question, how did you book land of legends ?
