FTTP Installation Question CityFibre Anyone had it done (Fibre to the property)

Im having full fibre broadband installed tomorrow (900mbps) from vodafone. From what I can tell is a cityfibre engineer will be coming to install the fibre cable and the 2 terminals (inside & out) my question is, would i be able to choose where to have the new box installed or will they insist on using the old hole/trail to my previous broadband. My connections are currently in the front room but i wanted the new one in the hallway ideally to be more central. Anyone had any experience with cityfibre engineers?

Hey, I have Cityfibre installed June last year.

Yes you can, the ONT needs power so yes you can choose, but needs to be close to a power supply or you need an extension cable

City fibre have laid the infrastructure, so I'm guessing it's a matter of time before things are being offered.

    I got it really cheap £28/month 900 mbps up&down, 24 months

£47.99, however price for life and excellent UK based customer
service. I heard too many bad things about Vodafone customer service (lack of) and as I am a software engineer and I now WFH, if my service goes down I want good customer service.

47.99 for the 1Gig/1Gig package (edited)

    Thanks, that sounds good.

    Any info just ask.

I was with a ISP called AirBroadband at first and speed and customer service was awful so I got out of contract.

However I am now with Zen.

Download is always a minimum of 920Mbps regardless of time(sometimes 1.2Gbps)
Upload is always a minimum of 880Mbps regardless of time(sometimes 980Mbps)

Today PS5 had a 5GB update for Fortnite, it took like 60 seconds to download! (edited)

I have a different provider but fibre wire was brought in where I wanted. He drilled through the external wall . Massive drill bit.

In our area open reach have erected ugly poles in every corner of street for FULL fiber. They look very ugly cables going in all direction in air.
For this reason i refused installation when engineer turned up at my house.

These useless muppets have just stuck a huge telephone pole right outside my house without ever informing me, just turned up and installed it today. Looking online there seems to be a lot of issues with them causing chaos and damaging property.

I’m in exactly the same situation as you, just got out of contract with BT but don’t really want to sign another contract as city fibre have installed in our road just not switched on yet and they can’t tell me when they’re going to do it! Really frustrating!

So can they tap into the fibre cable in the road at any point?

Same here, I'm not bothered about a landline either to be honest.

Hopefully with all these new ISP's coming on board with cheaper rates, it won't end up like the cheaper energy companies at the moment going to the wall. (edited)

I pay £25pm with Vodafone (Pro so also 4G backup), had it since November and been really pleased, I wfh and it's never had an issue, but when I have rung them with queries I've always got through pretty quickly. The router is fine as far as ISP routers go but none are really geared up atm for these speeds so I've got an Xiaomi AX3200 on order to try out (I'll lose the 4g backup with that but I've not needed it and if I did I could just switch routers).

Nice just the yearly CPI + 3% won't be long before you are paying a lot more.
