Sound quality is no better than a mini!
I mean, I guess it's nice to have a small ( Surprisingly Low Res) screen in the kitchen (recipes, YouTube, etc) but that tinny sound that comes from it is just far too unpleasant.
It is a good price though, for both, so I will add heat.
(Edit, I don't know why I didn't check before writing, it's the 2nd gen, which makes this a very good deal. Leaving original comment up as proof of me being an idiot) (edited)
Edit: Apparently not anymore but I swear I saw it recently. (edited)

I mainly am looking for it being a fancy clock, with it telling me my calender, to do list e.c.t
Is it worth it for that?
I found it pretty disappointing tbh. it's incredibly sluggish and laggy, so while it has a fancy screen, and in theory you can do all sorts with it via the screen, I just don't bother. E.g if you ask Google something, sometimes it will return a webpage or a map but trying to scroll down the page or pan the map is like swimming through treacle.
I just use it like the Nest mini now but with the bonus of a photo slideshow which doesn't require any touch interaction.
Anyone else have these issues or is mine defective?
I've also setup 'family bells' which tell the kids when it's time for dinner or time for school etc and it works amazingly well.
Also have a nest doorbell linked to it shows me who is at the front door when the doorbell is rung.
Also, the fact it has loads of other features I don't use often, as well as the above makes it something worth getting IMO.

I'm giving these two a few months to settle in and see if they've improved as the reports seem to indicate but if they don't I'm returning and moving to Alexa. I have the Google infrastructure and it's just easier to keep things all together. I want to say I'm worried about security but I've got nothing to share that I've not already done or tend to do without asking, I'm really not that special, interesting or "average" and have zero to offer anyone who wants to waste their time finding out about me!
