Welcome to the new era of Call of Duty

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is the sequel to 2019’s blockbuster Modern Warfare. Featuring the return of the iconic, team leader Captain John Price, the fearless John "Soap" MacTavish, the seasoned Sergeant Kyle "Gaz” Garrick, and the lone wolf himself, fan favourite Simon “Ghost” Riley, players will witness what makes Task Force 141 the legendary squad it is today.

From small-scale, high-stakes infiltration tactics to highly classified missions, players will need to leverage new weapons, vehicles, and cutting-edge equipment to take on their enemies. Gear up and take the fight offshore as you siege enemies underwater, breach a highly fortified enemy base, infil along the canals, and liberate much-needed allies at a black site hidden within the mountains.

Infinity Ward will immerse fans in heart-pounding next-gen, state-of-the-art gameplay. Fight alongside friends in a truly immersive experience with stunningly realistic sound, lighting, and graphics that produce the most advanced Call of Duty in history. Modern Warfare II will feature a rebuilt, advanced AI system, enhanced rendering and photogrammetry technology, a new Gunsmith system, allowing for more customization than ever before, and a suite of other gameplay and graphical innovations that elevate the franchise to new heights. The future of the franchise is filled with trail blazing innovations and sets the foundation for next-generation gameplay.

Modern Warfare II will feature a massive amount of content from day 1 – squad up and fight alongside TF141 in a globe-trotting single-player campaign, play lone-gun or rally with your team in immersive multiplayer combat, complete with new locales and ways to play, and experience an evolved, narrative-driven Special Ops game mode featuring tactical co-op gameplay.

Additionally, Modern Warfare II connects with the new Warzone experience releasing this year, and with it, the evolution in Battle Royale with a brand-new play space and sandbox mode. Expect a massive calendar of free content post-launch featuring evolving gameplay with new maps, modes, seasonal events, community celebrations and more.

Stay Frosty.

Sky didn't give me the beta code I signed up for... What was it like? The last few were garbage

Really loud footsteps, short TTK, minimap doesn’t show those firing unsuppressed weapons and weird perk system - lots of stuff that was fine has been messed with. I don’t know I haven’t played since MW19 but I’m considering cancelling my first pre-order in years.

You need to buy a £50 currys giftcard (mine cost me £47.00) then pay the difference as usual

To be honest, I don't know why everyone is raving about the new COD? I've played the beta - nothing special 🤷‍♂️ (edited)
    casavult's avatar
Played the BETA for the entire duration and honestly, I feel that MW 2019 was a much better game. Mechanics and movements feel odd, I didn't like the new perk system at all, I played all the maps available during the BETA and didn't enjoy them at all, among other things.

The single player will most likely be decent but I think I'm gonna skip this CoD or wait until it's £20/£30.

    Crazy price for a game

It's not that bad. I paid £65 back in the day for Street Fighter II on the SNES!!!

Cheers op, cheapest copy around. Can't wait for it!

The PS5 is a let down TBH, no really good games out.

£52.24 with Perks @ Work. Think that's as cheap as it's getting for a while 😬🤷‍♀️

    Thanks. Forgot about work perks!

Damn it, what a good find, too bad I'm moving to Canada in two weeks so wouldn't be here for the delivery 🥲

I don't know why they don't separate all the elements. Campaign multiplayer zombies Warzone etc etc.

I can't remember the last time I played a campaign the original modern warfare I reckon I dunno. I know by separating they will loose out. But that's how it should be.
    WowWowWeeWaa's avatar
    Lose……..not loose. Smh.

Was going to buy this as it would be the only COD I needed to buy for 2 years but they’re making a paid Premium DLC offering next year so I’ll wait for a sale.

Game prices haven’t increased. They decreased. Then went back to the normal price. Street Fighter 2 on Snes was £64.99 at release in October 1992.
  12. Skypie's avatar
No collection available. It would be just our luck another postal strike would delay everyone getting their copy. For £5 more you could collect it from somewhere like Smyths.
    gene_parmesan's avatar
On the last Royal Mail strike day when Splatoon 3 was due for release, Currys switched their delivery of the game to DPD so it arrived on release. Not saying they will do it for COD but it’s a possibility if the release falls on a strike day.

All that grinding for skins and weapons that don't carry over to WZ 2.0

Think of it as a different game, then this does not become an issue.
I mean not many sequels carry over character progression.
I do not like how games have become such a cash grab now, I prefer the old system of paying for a game and getting the full game.
On the flip side you can now play good quality games for free, some of these games are fairly playable without spending any money whatsoever, however some are horrendous how they lock progress behind paywalls, and the amount required to compete is obscene.

Does anyone think it will go down more on Black Friday?
    MartyNUFC's avatar
Not gunna go down by much the cheapest Vanguard was on Black Friday seems to have been £53 from Tesco. Unless you went via Eneba for a foreign key which was already cheaper than black Friday

I have just been on chat with Currys. They said it is out of stock so my pre-order will not arrive at launch. I placed the order on 3/10. I have not received any emails since placing the order. (edited)

I remember queuing at Sainsbury's on release day for the original MW 2. They were selling so many copies for £20 a pop. Queue was insane at 6.30am even back then.
    HairyFist's avatar
I remember queuing at Asda on release night for World at War because they were selling it for £25. Times have changed!

It is but it's the cheapest I've seen and it's one you can literally play for years, I still play modern warfare, also look at the last of us and God of war they're asking £70 for them. Prices are going up
  19. Lorcan's avatar
You’re always going to be battling with people that downvote this because they deem any game at this price as too expensive ! Unlucky, heat from me though !

Haters going to hate I mean if you want the game it's the cheapest so a bit low so many voting cold but hey ho

Unless they've changed it since the beta, the new perks system is...not great

Fond memories of picking up the original MW2 for £25 at Morrisons on release day.

    How times have changed
    naz400r's avatar
I remember getting work mates to check their locals for me it was such a scramble lol
  23. andypearce543's avatar
Baffles me people complaining about the price when most people who buy this will get hundreds of hours out of it. Me personally I'll be buying, doing the campaign and selling and paying a pound or two overall like I did with the last of us
  24. snotters's avatar
I learned my lesson with pre-ordering the appalling COD Vanguard. Never again. I’m also suspicious of the usual hyperbole that comes with new COD games (“best COD game ever!!”) from reviewers that are so obviously getting nice backhanders from game publishers to paint their games in a glowing light. I just want a COD game that isn’t broken on release and isn’t riddled with the usual political bs that comes with a 2022 game, tailored for people that don’t even play these type of games (e.g. Saints Row). Maybe I’m asking too much.
    darkstryder360's avatar
MW2019 was brilliant, what didn't you like about that?
  25. tiredrich's avatar
    I'll wait a year and pay £15-20
    ngroce841's avatar
On the basis Vanguard is still £30 and Modern Warfare is 25 you may be waiting a while...
  26. nevergofull's avatar
Ordered Pre sale - played Beta, cancelled order.
This will do a vanguard and be £40 very quickly

Huge COD fan, but the TTK and slow movement mechanics didn't feel good to me
    jansen.lebow's avatar
cod feels to just put out quantity of games for years now. tried cold war and was alright but the playerbase is just far too crazy and sweaty for me now a days.
  27. d3m0n's avatar
Im looking for a deal like this BUT for a digital code - disc based games are so 2019

I don't get why people don't like this game, I'll admit when I first played it I found it clunky and a bit stop start but once I sorted my class out I was darting around everywhere causing mayhem it's really good

I don't like the limited sprint duration I wish it would just sprint everywhere as fast as possible and I wish you could have two semtex's as well as your flashbangs like Cold War but it reslly grew on me the guns feel great and sound effects are amazing, maps are good too

I've literally just got Vanguard for £10 from Sports Direct so barely played that but yet I feel like I want to pre order this amd probably will, I really liked Cold War so tbh I wanted to kinda palm this off until it was too cheap to ignore but it's got something about it

I've played it on the PS5 and my laptop using an Xbox controller and tbh it feels a lot more fluid on the PC i don't know if that's because of the controller or higher FPS my L5P was averaging 90 to 110 fps in 2160 and letting it choose the settings itself
    ZX10R_Rider's avatar

I've read a few saying it felt clunky but I didn't notice it, I swap between modern warfare, cold War and vanguard and enjoy them all and didn't find this playing too differently really
  30. MartyNUFC's avatar
Thanks OP just cancelled my pre-order elsewhere and just saved me £4.61 ordering from here! 🏻

If you put bit of leg work into getting Turkish psn account this can be bought for £35ish, I know not everyone likes this method, but will also save money on other games

Still heat for physical copy (edited)
    xHadouken91's avatar
    Completely forgot about this method

Thanks mate, saved me some money

I remember when you used to get supermarket deals for £ 30 the original MW 2 was the last time I believe
    MrsPickleJuice's avatar
MW2 was about £45/50 when it was released and it stayed that price for about a year,
  33. vegalz0r's avatar
Cheapest is on Turkish account for 32 quid for ps5.

Ordered last Friday being delivered today by DPD I must be lucky as I see people who ordered much earlier are still awaiting dispatch. Hopefully you guy’s and Girls have now had yours dispatched 🤞🏻
  35. AK.Gunners's avatar
A good price, voted hot and I will get it at some point, but can't justify spending £55 on a game with the cost of essentials so high.

I have some Tesco Clubcard vouchers so will see how much Tesco sell it for. (edited)
    Funnycatmeme's avatar
Yep in an ideal world I would be getting COD:MW2, Fifa 23 and Gotham Knights. That's nearly £200 of games for a Series X at current prices and I just can't justify it this year with everything else going on. The extra £10 for the "next generation" games doesn't sit well with me when PC games have been next generation forever.
  36. gazz1a's avatar
