As others have said, it will be (literally) freezing cold, so factor that in when packing.
Also the atrocious exchange rate will make everything more expensive than usual.
If getting one of those attraction passes mentioned upthread, you should consider what places you realistically want to go to and their individual entry prices (shop around for deals/promos on the attractions, rather than accept the face value stated on the pass website) - it may be cheaper to pay for the places you actually want to visit, given how much/little time you have available. A 3 day unlimited pass sounds great, but unless you are going to be wizzing around at lightning speed spending an hour at each place (including places you might not have been interested in but are just going in order to try and get value from the pass), it may not be as useful as you might think. We went last Feb for 5 nights. Had an amazing time. We knew it was going to be cold and packed accordingly.
But didn't realise how cold the wind chill would be. It became kind of funny as to how cold the wind was. On top of the Empire State Building.

I'm going in a few weeks, just booked a new york pass this morning on their black friday sale, 3 days unlimited attractions for £165 as there was a further 5% off with newsletter code SIGNUP. Well worth it.

We went for 5 nights from 4th dec last year and it was sooo pleasantly mild! Chilly on the morning but had to remove my coat during the day! Enjoy ! I’m so jealous !

I stayed at this hotel when it was called Hotel Metro. Perfectly decent and really good location, much better than being right in Times Sq which I wouldn't recommend.

Went 8 years ago around the same time and with wind chill factors it felt like -16. If you go, take a tonne of clothes to layer up.

Can't emphasise quite how cold NYC is in winter, the numbers don't do it justice. The wind off the Hudson channelled though the canyons of midtown just has to be felt to be believed. Like a laser, let alone a knife.

Bargain at this price. I have been to NYC in all seasons and so long as you’re prepared it’s a fantastic place to visit at any time of year. Each season has something to offer

Also, restaurant week is at the start of February so a massive savings on eating out (edited)

Booked a similar deal off here. Last year for January with BA, our trip got cancelled by BA and they didn't even let us know , no email or phone call , booking just vanished , I went to pay balance and it had gone , went through the merry go round of trying to speak to someone eventually I reckoned i wanted to book a trip and that's when I finally got to speak to someone to be told it'd been cancelled , I literally wouldn't go with BA if it was free , sadly not the business it used to be ,used to be senonimous with quality service .just my 2 cents worth as they say (edited)

Good price for New York, especially as all Holidays seem to be getting than much pricier.Been three times now to New York, prefer down in Wall street area, quieter at night especially. If you don't mind using Subway I prefer the quieter location after a day of sightseeing.February can be snowy and will be bitter cold most days, went in January it was dry and cold. But hey,it's New York, wrap up well!! If flight was from Scotland would be considering this.Hotel looks good, not sure if Breakfast is included, again personal choice but we try and find one with. However if no tourist tax that is a big plus..

Definitely, we stayed in the holiday inn not far from Wall st. So much more calmer. Nice walks to Battery park/ 911 etc. Easy trip on the red line to TS

They have a good deal for departure on 12th Dec for 5 nights at Yotel New York Times Square - £937.50PP. Would have booked if I hadn’t already booked & paid for 5 nights in January.

Did this exact deal in Feb this year, hotel is great - highly recommend. Location was perfect, close to subway and easy walk into Times Square along 5th. Was great flying with BA and the weather was cold but bearable - not much colder than we get here!

Stayed at this hotel in August. Nice rooms but that’s all there is, no lounge or anything so more like a B&B without the breakfast. Even the lady on reception said she wouldn’t recommend us booking breakfast. We found a really good deli round the corner for a cheap and decent variation of food.
    Mafalda_correia's avatar

ooo what is the deli called? We are staying at this hotel in a couple of weeks and it's our first in NYC! Is there any other restaurants you recommend around the hotel?

Just got beck last week ... absolutely freezing when wind picked up, otherwise pretty mild.

Was Baltic on the night time ferry tour though ... spent most of it inside after taking as many snaps as I could

Love it there though. Would go again soon but its bloody expensive now

I stayed at this hotel just at the revamp was starting. Was called Hotel Metro back then. Excellent hotel, great location. The breakfast was fantastic and free wine hour in the evenings a nice touch, hope they still do it!

Me and the missus were there at the end of May and got one of the hottest (if not hottest on record) days and unbroken sunshine for 3 days, loved it. We both said we would love to go back around Xmas time but Jan/Feb no I don't think so, we have friends there and they have always advised against it, changes so much for travel and the experience.

Still not dropped the Covid entry rule even though any vaccine would be well out of people's systems by now. Shame
