Many people don't like the idea of subscribing to software instead of just making an outright payment for someone that can be used indefinitely.

This is a good deal because of the cloud storage. I don't know any other way of getting this much storage from a mainstream provider this cheaply.

It's worth having, even if you only use it as an extra way to back up the photos from your phone.

I cancelled my Dropbox subscription last year and have used this instead.

It also because don't understand the difference between what this is and what it was to buy Office 2007 on a disc. They are not the same thing in terms of services provided.

Probably a stupid question, but is this subscription stackable?

For those of us buying this subscription Office 365 for the first time.

How many of the included, 6 user, one-year licences, can you stack on one PC.

My aunt needs Office - and I am buying it & installing it on her only laptop.

Can I stack all the 6 user licenses, so that it gives her Office365 for the next 6 years?

(I am new to this subscription model of office, I have only ever bought/used the non-subscription version of Office, so please help map out the pathways here (as if I were a newbie).

I'm guessing this would help out other members too. (edited)

You will link one outlook account to your plan as a family member and they will get the benefits. You can have up to 6 family members in the plan, 1TB each.

You can stack the active subscription up to 5 years. (edited)

So we can purchase this for her single laptop.

We can them stack 5 of the 6 user licenses together, on her laptop.

So she would get 5 years (one left unused) of Office 365 by buying this package for a one off cost of £44.99, that would cover the whole 5 years (£7.49 per year)? (edited)

No. You only get one product key which expires after a year. The six licenses run concurrently. You can add five additional users, which you do by logging into your Microsoft account, but only for a year.

There's nothing to stop you buying twice to give you a two year subscription. I've pretty much done that by buying it long before my existing subscription expires.

If you're only buying this for the sake of getting Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc there may be more suitable options: LibreOffice is free and I believe you can still buy a non-subscription version of Microsoft Office.

I only bother with this because of the bundled cloud storage. By comparison, Dropbox charges £7.99 per month for 2TB. (edited)

Rubbish! I had mine in a box for over a year and a half before using and they worked fine. This is Argos, not Delboy on eBay!

I've bought this today and successfully extended my subscription by a year. The three month bonus in the above link also worked and was approved very quickly. It took the form of an extra product key which added the three months.
