Update now live:

PlayStation VR2 (PS5 only) for Gran Turismo 7 arrives (for free)

With the 1.29 update at no additional cost, players will be able to for the first time experience all the races and game modes (excluding ‘2P Split Screen’ mode) with a whole new level of realism. PS VR2 players will also be able to access an exclusive ‘VR Showroom’ area from their ‘Garage’ or the in-game car dealerships where they can admire all the stunning details of the ultra-high-definition car models in a variety of locations and lighting settings.

GT7 takes full advantage of PS VR2’s next-gen features – Utilizing specially optimized HDR tone mapping, as well as foveated rendering from the eye-tracking feature (a technology that renders areas of the screen that the player is directly looking at in high definition), and dynamic 3D audio support, players will experience a whole new dimension of highly immersive gameplay.

Experience Gran Turismo Sophy in Race Together mode (PS5 Only)Gran Turismo Sophy is a revolutionary superhuman racing AI racing agent developed in a collaboration between Sony AI, Sony Interactive Entertainment and Polyphony Digital. “Gran Turismo Sophy Race Together” mode gives Gran Turismo players of all levels and abilities the opportunity to go head-to-head against GT Sophy in GT7. The special mode, available as a time-limited in-game event (From Feb 21 to end of March), is a first look at GT Sophy in GT7 and is designed to maximize the fun and excitement of racing against GT Sophy for everyone. Player feedback on this initial special feature will be used to continually improve the GT Sophy Race Together mode feature for future releases.

In GT Sophy Race Together mode, players can race against GT Sophy in a series of four circuits of increasing difficulty, as a Beginner / Intermediate / Expert driver. In each of the four races, the player races against four GT Sophy cars of different performance levels. Players can also challenge GT Sophy in 1VS1 mode, where GT Sophy and the player race one-on-one with identical car configurations and settings, which showcases the superhuman racing skills of GT Sophy. The excitement of GT Sophy Race Together mode is enhanced with GT7’s new emoticon feature, which displays emoticons on the GT Sophy cars throughout the race to react to the in-game action.

The mode can be accessed directly from the top right panel on the GT7 World Map, and the player can start a race against GT Sophy once the player has reached Collector Level 6. For more information on GT Sophy, please refer to the official site.

Great news but over £500 is still too high. Needs to be under £300 IMO

Hopefully it will bomb at first and Sony will then decide to make ALL PSVR (PS4) original games backwards compatible. I’ve invested to much money in my PSVR games for Sony to just write them off

Psvr2 will be out of stock for 6mths after release so get on it now if you're interested then sell it on for a profit if you're not keen/don't use it enough.

I've ordered the PSVR2. Played my mates VR1 and enjoyed it. Not had any VR head set yet. What will happen now is I'll put it on when I get it and end up sick from using it.

VR sickness only affects certain people (I've never had it). But even those that are prone to VR sickness can overcome it by building up their 'VR legs'.
As soon as you start to feel off, stop playing immediately. Don't try to push through it. Take a little break, then come back to it later. Keep on doing that and you'll be eventually be able to play for hours at a time.

take care on this one, GT Sport on the PS4's VR support was just a single race showcase mode with one car, the full game didn't support the VR functionality, so it was nothing more than a tech demo - Not saying they'll do that again with GT7, but don't pre-order before you know what you're getting

The video above shows gameplay of the campaign of GT7 so looks like a full game VR Support

This was invite only and is now open to all. The tech in this headset makes the price decent.

The way to go if you have a PS5 I suppose. For me it’s waiting for the Quest 3. PSVR1 until then.

When the headset is more expensive than the console you know it won't sell. I see it dropping below £300 within a year and they'll just have to subsidise the cost with games like they do the consoles at launch. If the headset had PC drivers and Sony launched their own store on PC, then'd I'd potentially want one as it can replace my Oculus Rift..... But I'm not spending that much on something that is locked to PS5.

Looking at it as well, but launch price is so high…. Wondering whether to get the Meta 2 and then trade in psvr when price drops and has been properly market tested… i assume meta price will drop close to psvr launch… but maybe i am wrong

I'm actually glad Sony are not focusing on the old PSVR1 which came out on 2016 for £350 which was the same price as the PS4.

It's 2023 and this PSVR2 will have new games and new tech, also the same price as the PS5.

Puts things into perspective doesn't it.
This will be a great step to VR to those who have not tried it yet so don't knock it.

Definitely wont be splashing out stupid money on a launch psvr2. Definitely will be straight round a mates house with no kids and more money than sense to play this asap. If this is the full game in VR.... I better take round some beers and snacks. (edited)

Ah well that's 2 games that I'll have to play when my PSVR2 arrives next month, this and the Horizon VR game. My investment is looking a little better than me worried I made a mistake.

Ghostbusters Rise of the Ghost Lord looks good too but not a launch game and doesn't seem to be coming for PCVR except for the Quest2 and PSVR2 and made by nDteams who I've not heard of who are also making Far Cry VR for PSVR2. (edited)

I’ve had two invites to preorder PSVR2 and I still have no intention of getting it. This thing will be significantly cheaper by Christmas as there is ZERO buzz on this thing and I can name maybe two games that are coming out for it and this is one of them.

Amazing but as other say the price is a bit much however have they priced it for days market? Look at the costs of everything much more than it use to be, certainly would be nice to see how this plays out giving some of the cars and graphics in this game.

I cancelled my PSVR2 pre order end of December.
We got my son a Quest 2 for Christmas and he's used it once........we've used it once.....
By the time we bought the quest, elite headstrap, one game and a case we were £700 in, and all for about an hour's game play.
Going to see how the sales of this headset and the release of games progress and look again end of the year.
People who have pre ordered, I hope you enjoy it and it's a good investment for you all.
Will read reviews and watch this item for most of 2023 before deciding if it's worth investing given our lack of use of the Quest so far .

I was asked to bring my PSVR 1 over for Christmas and New Year's to set up and let the family play during the holidays.... And quickly remembered why I hadn't used it for so long... So... Many... Wires... I know there are significantly less wires for PSVR2 (only one if I've read correctly?), but after playing on my mate's Quest 2, going back to even a single wired connection will feel limiting. It also sucks - the tracking is terrible unless you have the perfect environment and lighting - and even then it’s hit or miss

You've got to be a serious enthusiast to shell out the hefty price Sony are asking. VR just isn't where it needs to be yet for me to invest that kind of cash, especially as this model has no BC, no speakers and is tethered.

Of the people I know who own PSVR 1, none use theirs now. Not a single person I know is even interested in the PSVR2 - and some didn't even know Sony have refused backwards compatibility.

It really doesn't look good. Barely any games, far, far too expensive and I can see no games support. No games support, dropped product.

It's a risky product for a couple of games. (edited)

I'm tentatively keeping my order. RE Village is the killer app for me, having enjoyed it on PC in 2021 and in 3rd person PS5 in 2022.

All I need is Alyx. If they announce Alyx it would turn from tentative, to no brainer. I don't see it happening though sadly, would have been done for launch surely?

I got psvr a while after it came out and it was decent until I tried the quest, the tracking and proper controllers made it night and day despite the gap in graphics.

The quest 2 was even better and the table tennis game Eleven is possibly one of the best sports gaming experiences I have ever had.

If they can deliver on the games then Sony will have a smash on their hands, the controllers look superb, and if they can avoid the godrays that plague the quest 2 then even better.

I got psvr 1 on launch day.
Was initially impressed. But oh the headaches and sickness from an hours gameplay .
Anyone know if this will be any better for motion sickness etc.
And if so , how ?
    mosschops's avatar
    mosschops
Apparently the foveated rendering, haptic feedback in the headset, 120hz refresh rate and speedier processing will help. Also a found a lot of this was down to the games, some devs had got it spot on, some nearly did and some were 5 mins tops.

Having a fan in your face seems to help a lot and stop before you're ill, it's possibly to build up a tolerance. (edited)
