Anyone who has a coffee machine actually know if this is worth it?

I've always considered getting one but not sure if this is worth a punt.

I know it has £150 off for first year, but there subscription is £25/ month as it is, which sounds very pricey

Id stay away from this as Nespresso has a patent on vertuo pods, so you can only buy them for mega expensive prices through them .

Competitors are able to sell pods for original Nespresso machines so can be had at much more reasonable prices.
I tend to get short-dated starbucks pods for cheap on discount dragon, whenever they are available

Was looking for a Nespresso machine for a gift at Christmas but quickly realised they are only pushing the Vertuo model, whereas the original style of pod has a much bigger range, is much more readily available (with third party brands) and is about half the price per pod. I didn't think the recipient would thank me for tying them into such a restrictive pod system as the Vertuo.

Instead, I ended up getting them the L'OR machine with 100 pods (plus a few introductory ones) for £99.99.

    Cheap machine = expensive pods
Rather buy a machine that takes the original nespresso pods as well as other nespresso compatible pods. Saves you alot of money!

I have this coffee machine, does this take the original nespresso pods?

I ordered then found out what the offer was and cancelled... From what I got you have to pay 50% or £12.50 for 12 months

It’s still a lot of quality machine for the money. I’d just PAYG if you need the quantity and speed of this machine. If not I’d go for one of the entry level machines where you can also buy cheaper 3rd party capsules.

Wouldn't recommend Vertuo pods once used, such an expensive commitment.

As a Nespresso Vertuo user for the last 6-ish months or so, i have some observations:

Yes it is true that you cannot get third party pods, but personally, i prefer the Nespresso pods to any others i have tried, both third party and from other pod machines.

There are always offers for half price subscriptions. I Have had one running for a few months, i have a ton of coffee and i even bought myself an Aeroccino 4 for less than half price (the membership gives you 20% off all accessories and the credit i was able to use was half price = result!)

I do find the pods expensive if no offers are on, but unless you genuinely 4-5 cups per day, i don't think you'd run out using the subscription tbh.

Also just to point out you can just get the half price subscription when there's an offer, without buying a machine and even if you have another subscription active. I cancelled my 6 month one ( i had 2 months left) and went for a 12 month one i found on offer when i saw it. Again, no contract or fees, cancel anytime.

As an existing customer, its disappointing that it's often cheaper to buy coffee via deals like this. I don't need another machine or freebies, but it's overall cheaper!

As a buyer of the insane deal at curry's over a year ago for this exact machine I would say this deal is absolutely worth it

12.50 a month for £25 of pods is good value "average 50 pods" and you can cancel whenever you want with no cancellation fee

Plus the travel mug, cups and low maintenance machine and you are on to a winner

I prefer the original pod system as they are much cheaper to buy and can purchase lot of nice non Nespresso branded ones to mix things up.
In fact there's loads of variety to keep it quite exciting.

The new machines limit you to buying from Nespresso only and sadly more costly in the long term.

I generally find the old pods coat about 15-20p per pod with various supermarket offers and discounts

The Vertuo makes good coffee, but becomes expensive when you have to pay full price for the pods. Just changed to a bean to cup machine which whilst more expensive to purchase is saving me a fortune in coffee.

I bought this over Christmas. After the half price sub per month, I reckon it works out on average around 48p per mug of coffee if you buy the capsules that serve 230ml. That includes the cost of the machine in that calculation.

Or it works out around 37p per double espresso.

With that in mind, it’s probably cheaper than the original machine for mug sized drinks but not for espresso. Also, the availability of capsules is obviously limited for the vertuo system. When our sub finishes I don’t think I’d reinvest unless there was a similar priced offer but there’s nothing wrong with the coffee. It’s better than instant but not as good as bean to cup.

Can you add this offer to an existing coffe subscription

I would say it's a good deal for anyone considering a vertuo machine and is happy to pay 50p a cup after the half price offer ends in 12 months.

By all accounts it's excellent coffee but if you get an original machine you'll be paying around 15p a cup for non Nespresso good quality capsules

People are practically giving these away on marketplace. Pods are worth more than the machine.

How long has it taken to receive the redemption code from Amazon?
    camo145's avatar
    camo145
I had the redemption code on dispatch but you also need the serial number from the machine when it arrives. You then have to send that to Nespresso and they can take up to 7 days to get back
