I got myself a raspberry pie to run home assistant, still need to set it up. Would this screen be useful for what im doing?

It would, however... Home assistant once set up is so easy to access on other screens. Literally just a URL so it would likely be better just picking up a cheap Amazon fire tablet for like £30, and not have to thave it tethered to the pi and plugged in all the time etc.

I was expecting to have my pi with HA connected to a screen etc but didn't even need a when to set it all up, it was brilliant

Depends on your project and if you want a dedicated screen for it. As with each project, your mileage may vary.

I use a screen with my EnviroPi setup to measure temps, pressure, humidity etc in my greenhouse. Having a dedicated screen for it in the greenhouse helps me.

I also use another screen for my Pi-hole adblocking setup which sits next to my router.

A touchscreen isn't always useful. I want to replace my Pi-hole screen with an e-ink screen instead.

    Edit: typos (edited)

Pi's cost an arm and a leg nowadays, not to say they are OOS most time. I remember the times when you could turn-up to your local butcher and buy a Pi with cash.

Raspberry Pi 3 Model A+ has been in stock for a while at The Pi Hut, if that model is useful to you. And same price as always from official resellers, do not feed the scalpers. Other models.. yeh, still very hard to find.

So can you easily run full linux on your Fire tablet without needing to mess around with it, have it multitask, run a DNS server, web server, pi hole, etc etc ?
You’re effectively comparing 2 things meant for entirely different purposes.
